Paintsville @ Lawrence County

Thoughts? Predictions?

I think this will be an evenly matched game. It may come down to has the ball last.

LC better get a bigger body in there at nose although I know they won’t. Smaller, faster dl didn’t work in years past and it won’t this year either. Just about every play in the Ashland scrimmage the nt got blown off the ball or just face planted in the ground trying to cut the center. Not a knock on the player at all, I give him all the credit for toughness but that is crippling for our mlb’s. If lc can get the big fullback going in this game I think they win by a td. Paintsville is a very good team and we can’t afford a slow start on them.

If LC can control tempo they can win this game. Paintsville relies on explosiveness.

I’m having a hard time making a prediction :HitWall:

I don't think the big fullback can handle a workhorse amount of carries. He may have 10 decent runs in him of 4-6 yards, which would be great. I don't see him breaking anything longer than 15, and he won't have the energy to get the 4-6 all game. Those will either turn into 2-3 yard gains or fumbles later in the game. LC better find another guy who can come in and give them a spark when the big boy starts sucking wind.

It’s been a long time since LC has won a meaningful regular season game...until they do its hard to pick them!

I agree. I also think that much like Raceland is better than many anticipated, myself included, Paintsville is probably in that same boat. Gotta go with Paintsville pulling away late.

Tigers 35
Dawgs 20

I agree. Their D front will have a tough time stopping anyone that has a good ground game along with the ability to throw quick passes. Looks like they are just filling a bunch of gaps and hoping they get lucky. However, I don't know if Paintsville is gonna be very good themselves this season. If LC wins, they better not read too much into thinking they've done something impressive. If it is close, they will still have tough time the rest of the season. If Paintsville wins, I think it will be a very long season for LC. Luckily for the Bulldogs, the district is weak outside of Belfry.

I believe Lawrence County will win this one. Hear me out. Paintsville lost two more starters last night. Their Center transferred to JC and their Wideout Receiver quit last night. This leaves them with 6 lineman that ever really get to play and none of them can go for more than 3 drives. Paintsville won’t be able to handle Lawrence County’s quick D Lineman for 4 quarters.

Couldnt agree more my friend! Shame!

Not giving up. I have confidence in the Tigers, but basketball is my sport of choice to watch. Good luck to to all the eastern Kentucky teams and an injury free season for all.

Not saying Paintsville doesn’t have the potential to be a very good team those 6 or 7 lineman that do play are very talented. It just depends on if they can go for 4 quarters at top notch

I'm thinking the exact same score FoSho, just the other way around:

Paintsville 27
Lawrence County 35

Go Dawgs!

Brother, I've been saying the same thing regarding Belfry! Coach Heywood loves those smaller, quicker D-Linemen and I swear I dont see where it has helped us. It puts more pressure on our DE's and LB's having to cover down. And it's not like we don't have the "beef" to put in there because we do. Just can not understand it. But he's won 6 State Championships and a bunch of Runner-Ups and I haven't won a damn thing, so I guess he knows what he's doing! Lol

I can't wait until the Lawrence County Bulldogs get things turned around again! 3A and Kentucky football is just better when the Dawgs are competing for District titles and making runs at championships. Good luck to you guys this year and I really mean that. I'm a big LC fan except for one game a year!
#27
Lawrence wasn't impressive in the least in their scrimmage against Ashland. It would have been a running clock game if it wasn't a scrimmage and Ashland didn't go to their backups quickly. It doesn't look like they have much this season except potentially maybe a good combo between the QB and WR. I don't know what Paintsville has, but if they don't beat Lawrence fairly easily, then I see Raceland rolling through their district this year.
#28
LC will have a tough time defending the Paintsville pass IMO, but Paintsville might have a tough time stopping the powerful LC run. Looking for a good injury free game by both teams.

What’s up with all of the transfers? Times must be ruff at North Prestonsburg.

Maybe all of Lawrence County’s athletes will be back this week. They must have held them out of the Ashland Scrimmage but I’m not sure if they will be enough to derail the Black Tigers.

Paintsville 28
Lawrence 13

Note to the all of the Bulldog people. Hide all your young talent in the lower levels because you know how the tiger followers all. Word is after losing a bunch of transfers they’re looking to replenish their stock.
