I don’t disagree but can you make a case for this years team?

Mine too. The #1 ranked team should have at least one quality win under their belts.

You’re basing your rankings off of a quality win from two games?

Boyle will have their chance to make a case soon. How they perform vs CAL, Highlands, and Lex Cath in straight weeks will reveal a lot.
#8
Logan Co. and Hopkinsville should both be ranked.

That dude is a hater, plain and simple. It wouldn't matter if we had beaten Alabama he'd have something to say.

That sounds reasonable to me after Boyle was over hyped last year all season long before getting soundly defeated in the 3A playoffs. JC has been to the 4A finals the past 4 seasons. This season, they have trounced a Lafayette team that gave Scott County a much more competitive game and beat a good Capital team on the road that had beaten the Golden Eagles in Paintsville last season.

As Hatz posted, BC will have opportunities to make their case this season, but their extremely weak early season schedule has not allowed them a chance to do so yet.

After underachieving last season and then opening with two very weak opponents this year, I am just not seeing where BC has put together a strong resume for this season.

Good points. BC looks and is a solid team this year. But I couldn’t put them above JC right now. The next few weeks might change that, but as it stands JC has earned it more than any other team.

We weren't overhyped, we were not healthy and lost to a very good team with a great staff.
#13
Hoot has made a valid point IMO.

However I would say that Boyle wasn't over-hyped IMO. They were as good as anyone in the Class when they were healthy. But Reese Smith was hurt at the end of the season, Crawford was hurt a lot in the early season and Bartelson was a little hobbled as well at the end.

Add all that to a revenge game for Corbin, at Corbin, and you have the makings of what happened in their semi-final matchup.

That said, Corbin deserved the win and I still scratch my head over the way they lost to Central in the Final.

Will be more accurate of an assessment IMO after Boyle runs up vs. CAL, HHS, Lex Cath and Anderson County in 4 straight weeks.

You forgot about other season ending injuries of starters Hotchkiss, Baker and Holderman and the sicknesses of Wilson Kelly (had surgery and lost 40 lbs thruout the season) and Reed Lanter (stomach virus game week with an IV at halftime of Corbin game).

These aren't excuses, but they can't be ignored if you're being called "over-hyped".

Corbin deserved the win regardless of these issues. It's a team sport and the Rebels didn't get the job done.

I'll agree and disagree with this post:

At this point I'd have Johnson Central at #1 and Boyle County at a VERY close #2. Just for the simple fact of the schedules so far.

JC has beat a Lafayette team that played Scott pretty good as you said and beat a very good Capital team on the road and was in the 4A finals last year with the majority of that team back. While Boyle has played a weak first two games (not their fault in my opinion) as we all have "weak" opponants somewhere on our schedule whether it be district or non district teams. Boyle's just so happen to be back to back and their first two games and their starters may have played a total of half a quarter so far. We really haven't got a chance to see what that "Rebel Monster" looks like just yet, but it's coming.

Like you also said, the Rebels will definitely have their chance to prove their worth in the coming weeks. I will be shocked if Boyle County doesn't come out of that tough four game stretch against CAL, Highlands, Lex.Cath., and Anderson County 4-0, and by decent margins of victory. If/when they do, they are the clear cut #1 team in 4A impressively.

Lastly, I strongly disagree with the Rebels being over hyped last year. Boyle County went on the road and beat Belfry in the playoffs, which is something that hasn't happen very often on Pond Creek the last few years. The Pirates jumped all over the Rebels right out of the gate early in the game, and while most teams would have never recovered in that atmosphere Boyle regrouped fought back, took the lead, and never looked back. Not going to say what would have happened in the Corbin game if Boyle was 100% healthy because, for one, that wouldn't be fair to Corbin and another reason is, we just don't know. But saying they were overhyped is a stretch to me.

Again, this is just my opinion on the matter. I do think 4A comes down to one of these two teams. I don't know if by the way KHSAA has rearranged things if Boyle County and Johnson Central will have to meet before the championship game or if they have a chance to play one another at Kroger Field for the title. But I do know this, if they do meet it's going to probably be one of, if not the best playoff or championship games in 2019.

I just watched some film of the JC vs Capital game and it looked like a nice win for JC.

Looking forward to the challenge.

JCs just so physical from what I’ve watched of them over the past years. Obviously they are beatable, everyone in 4A is. As much as it kills me to say it, outside of a complete let down by one of the two, this matchup will occur and satisfy our arguments and curiosity. I wouldn’t put money on either team for the win.

You are correct Sir! I consider my Pirates to be one of the most physical football teams over the last few years in the state of Kentucky and Johnson Central is right up there with us. We play them every year and it's just down right the most physical, bruising, smash mouth, bloody football game we play. Every year after this game the players, on both sides, are just beat to death! I love the rivalry game and I hope it goes on forever, I just wish it was not played as the season finale every year but around mid-season so both teams can recuperate. I hate going into the playoffs after playing the Eagles. Both teams are black and blue for a week or two afterwards. Lol!

I stopped reading after you said over hyped. That alone makes your whole post irrelevant.

And yet, you responded with your own irrelevant, vacuous post. It's always interesting when people write responses to posts that they claim not to have read.

Everyone has their thoughts.

Speed kills and Boyle Co is unmatched in all of 4A....THAT will be the difference. While watching the pieces of the game I had the feeling that Capital is nowhere near as athletic as the Rebels.

It's my feelings that while JC and Belfry are bruising offenses, their biggest difference is speed. Bruising running games don't fair well vs Boyle Co generally.
#24
Execution beats speed. Example, 3A semis 2019

Healthy speed wins titles. Example, 3A final 2017.

Hahah with that logic healthy players executing would have won in 2017.

Make all the “excuses” you need to for last year, but I didn’t see anyone’s leg broke in that game, it wouldn’t have mattered anyways when we lived in the backfield. It works both ways. We had way more out injured in 2017 than BC did in 18. But here’s the difference in perspective, BC deserved to win in 17. They were the better team. The best team also won in 2018. Now back to this year......... Good luck. I’m afraid we won’t be too much of a threat to JC or Boyle. Strange things happen though.

For anyone that knows Anderson county well, what type of offense do they run?

Think what you will. Your injuries were inconsequential in 2017 and you know it. I've given credit to Corbin and the staff for the game plan last season. The Hounds deserved the win. I've also laid out the injuries to our squad last season and they were devasting to our team and left us with a shell of ourselves by semi final time.

I'm hoping for a chance to play round 3 this season on our turf. That would be something to behold.

Your trying to have it though Rebel tinted glasses cause that’s the only way you wanna see it. Do you even know the kids that couldnt play that game in 2017 that would have been huge for us? Nope and that’s why you say it’s inconsequential.....

They were inconsequential compared to our issues last year. And don't kid yourself, I'm not the only one with tinted glasses on 'round here. Lol

Listen this is gonna get out of hand I can see it coming...point is everyone said the same thing about Corbin in 2017 when Boyle won because we where riddled with injuries, our secondary was decimated and we became overhyped because of it. The same thing happened to Boyle last year but to say they were overhyped is a disservice to Corbin cause our kids were a really good team, those Seniors as a group lost 4 games from middle school till the time they graduated...This group of Seniors at Boyle Co are definitely not overhyped can they beat JC I have no idea but I’d like to see that game...
