Taylor Co 49 Casey Co 7
#1
Coach Marple called off the dogs against his Alma mater or it could have been much worse. Casey held Taylor to 8 points in the first quarter, but Taylor struck quickly in the 2nd. Casey finally got on the board with a long TD pass, but Taylor was just unstoppable with their run game for the Rebels. The 3rd quarter was agonizing for a Rebel fan, but quite enjoyable if you were a Taylor Cardinal. Taylor's running back Wes Oliver went for almost 400 yards rushing, by HIMSELF. I guess Goodin added another 200...Good night to be a Cardinal, bad night to be a Rebel. Off week for the Rebels coming up. I'm not sure now if I favor Glasgow over Taylor in this region, or vice-versa? 2 team battle for this district between a last year 4A vs a last year 2A team.

Wow! Almost 400 yards is insane for one player! Nice.

Taylor has a good line and that kid just hits it so quick. Goodin has more speed, overall I think, but this Oliver kid has no hesitation, one cut and he's going to daylight. Coach Marple has some good blitz packages that basically killed our line. I doubt if we had 2 seconds to throw the ball and we have a good QB, fast with good zip on his arm.

Taylor's running game was just dominant. The offensive and defensive lines of Taylor just dominated the ball game. Oliver could have ran for 600 yards, and I'm sure Tre could have as well, just a matter of who you want to carry the ball. Casey County has some nice skill players. They have at least one homerun wide out, and their QB was at least one of the top 4 fastest kids on the field, including Tre and Oliver. Casey's offensive line is small, and SLOWWW. They couldn't pick up the Cardinals blitzes, and were being driven back into the Casey QB's lap all night long. We kept their quarterback off balance and did a pretty good job collapsing in on him when he tried to run. He got one nice run on us but after that our D line basically just beat the Casey line off the ball. Our backs were just too fast for Casey's linebackers and their D line is pretty weak to be honest, aside from whoever #11 was. Pretty good win against a team that has improved the last few years. For whatever reason is seemed Casey benched their starters early in the 2nd half. I didn't understand that but it did allow us to get in our subs fairly early. Go Cards!

We really couldn't even slow Taylor down very much. They have a good sized O line and really open up running lanes. Their running backs are so quick they were already by our linebackers, so it seemed. We lost our own running back, and don't really have a true H-back. Our QB is by far our most explosive player. We have at least 3 really good wide receivers, 4 really, but one has been hurt all season and just now played a little bit in the last 2 games. We lost over half our O line and we have young guys filling in at spots. We seem to do pretty well with short routes and quick hitters. It's tough when you don't have a run game, really tough in high-school.

Yea... Casey only has 2 decent O-Linemen with decent size..

I didn't see much size at all on the Casey size. I would consider my Cards about average in terms of 3A, and I'd consider Larue big. We won that battle against Larue but they had maybe the best individual lineman we had seen this year, even over Simon Kenton. Casey's starters are just slow off the ball and can't move anyone, which is why I assume they did not run the ball at all and have to stay in pass pro. I do remember Casey having some big lines, especially in the mid 80s. They did have one pretty good D lineman who was quick and powerful, #78 I think. He collapsed in our center once and caused a fumble which was fairly impressive. They had at least one big giant kid when they brought in their 2nd team. Not sure if he can play, but I think I might be playing him if he can play at all! Casey QB was fast, very fast, and I wouldn't mind him playing for us with his arm. Him, and #1 could play for most 3A teams and really contribute. Casey has good numbers, a lot better than I remember on their sideline. I just don't know if they are very young or what. I know their stud running back is at Campbellsville University, from last season, we actually talk. That kid would have made an excellent offensive lineman if he were about 6 inches taller. Anyways, last night was a nice little game to get back after our loss to Simon Kenton. A big showdown with Glasgow in 3 weeks. That is who we are gunning for.

The lineman I was talking about on the O-Line were #70 and #68. There not huge my any means with #70 around 6 foot 250lbs and #68 around 6’1” 280lbs. Both are being recruited pretty heavily though with one being invited to play in an All-American Bowl in Miami FL. I am looking forward to you all playing Glasgow though, will be a great game!

Glasgow is good and well coached. It'll take all we have to beat them. Mutual opponents we seem to be very close. No offense to Casey. I might see someone take a chance with a hard working kid but I don't know about college talent. A couple of our lineman can play somewhere locally (hopefully Campbellsvile, haha). Now Tre is being recruited heavily. He's a D1 player, but actually not heavily recruited for D1. Of course everyone locally in the state, and almost every state from D2 on down are wanting him. I would say our entire team we have at least a dozen that will play college ball. Anyways, good luck, it looks like your schedule, other than Glasgow, isn't too bad the rest of the way. I know Casey has been on a nice upswing and usually when you get several years like that you will have success most years and don't have nearly as many down years. All it takes is a little success.

Big looming regular season matchup with Glasgow in 3 weeks. Take care of Hart and heal up a few bruises in our off week. I sometimes like having an off week to heal up, but unless something strange happens we should be able to get our starters out of there 2 weeks in a row, and hopefully even earlier against Hart. But they have an off week as well, so it's whoever prepares their guys the best coming into that fight.
