#1
The live meeting is still going on over at WYMT’s Facebook live. But they did vote to have Fall Sports begin September 11 with practices beginning August 24.

I will edit later on when they release more details

The way I understood it, teams may continue as they have been all along until August 24th which is first official Organized Practice
August 31st First practice in Helmets,
September 7th Pads
September 11th is start of football season.

If a team has an open date on or after the 11th they can work to schedule that date.

I do not understand why they do not let football to practice with helmets will full pads....
#4
till full pads date...
#5
The first day of helmets is Aug. 24th (first organized practice) with a 7 1/2 hour limit for the first week. Helmets and shoulder pads the following week (after the 5 day acclimation for helmets is completed).

There are climatazation and acclimation Rules that are already in place....that must be followed due to safety. We should all be thankful that we’re having a season period. 8 game regular season.....with full playoff schedule. Continued 6 hour workout weeks until. August 24th. Week of August 24th....all sports, including football are limited to 7.5 hours total As of August 31st....then its full normal practice time

This is the plan as of right now. We will see if it actually comes to pass.

True. However.....after watching the meeting.....there is definitely strong support for fall sports.....except out of Jefferson Co. not saying there isn’t support from JCPS .....but their AD abstained from all voting due to the uncertainty with COVID 19. While I understand the consternation....you still need a viable plan moving forward. Let’s hope it holds

9 game schedule if you fill your bye and the 11/6 date.

They also talked about restricting out of state opponents who do not directly border the state. I wonder how that effects Trinity’s season.

But like Westside said above, this is what we got right now. They said they’ll meet again before August 24th so it could potentially change in some sort. The whole time I was watching the meeting I never got my hopes up.

This is the best I’ve felt about having a season. I think there will be some bumps in the road....but I honk we’re gonna have a season 👍🏼

I’m not sure why that clown even showed up to today’s meeting.

You have to understand that JCPS is a MUCH different landscape then the rest of the state and I totally understand his reservations, but i think it will all work out.

Glad to see it's a "go". I really didn't think it would happen. I was ready for kids to chose the sport they wanted to play, and have football, basketball, and baseball all next spring. And all watered down, as some kids would have to decide what sport(s) to play, and what sport(s) not to play. I really like football season. Hope it goes with as few bumps as possible.

Bad decision that will cause Tackett his job and a ton of lawsuits for KHSAA. Guess Tackett is willing to gamble to keep KHSAA from folding.
#16
Not from a Football school but feel this is a question that didn’t get answered today at all. What happens when a kid or kids from a team gets the virus and has played games? Does the whole team get shut down for a period of time? Does everyone have to get tested? What about the teams they’ve played in the last 2 weeks?

My biggest fear To be honest is that you’ll have parents/coaches be very reluctant to have kids tested if they aren’t having major symptoms of the virus. Which is very dangerous because just because the virus doesn’t effect one kid much doesn’t mean it can’t impact another kid or their family dramatically.

With saying all of that I hope and pray that every kid in the state gets to play their preferred sports.

What exactly do you think Tackett and the board should have done? If the numbers don't slow down I'm sure it'll all get pushed back or shut down, at least we have a plan for now.

Exactly, this does not mean we are playing. We just have a plan to play if the numbers go down and the Governor gives his OK. He has the final say. KHSAA will meet before the 24th and see where we are. But Breshear will have final say.

Exactly wrong. It's IF TRERE ISN'T A SPIKE (there won't be) and it's not up to the governor ( he's not a dictator).

If the virus shut down the Florida Marlins and everyone they have had contact with, it does not look good going forward if this thing increases in the Fall.

I think how we see the MLB handle the Miami Marlins situation can depict how things might get handled in all sports.

I disagree. Why set policy for everyone by how 1 outfit screws it up?
Marlins should be textbook cautionary tale. Learn from their mistakes on how to do things. Marlins increase chance for sports by their failure.

Are all you bubble babies going to stay home when the season starts?

I agree. But there question marks have no answers right now. I believe that ESPN said they could resume games Sunday depending on test results coming back from the rest of the team. The Phillies who they played against the night before having the players test positive reported no players tested positive for the virus.

Because Jefferson Co. is the closest thing we have to LA union teachers who are demanding to defund the police an close private schools before they will work. Jefferson County schools are pitiful other than a couple schools. Jefferson Co. is the last place you want your kid to be edumacated.

Lol that’s awesome. The sky is falling. I certainly agree w ya.

Respectfully disagree. I don’t see where Tackett made any decisions. Some of his recommendations were accepted, but most were amended by the board and voted on by the board. And if you watched the meeting.....I don’t know how anyone could come away from it not feeling good about moving forward? No question they want to have fall sports. The board appears to be Trying to make solid, rational decisions for a multitude of student athletes without throwing the baby out with the bath water. I don’t know where the continued pessimism concerning the KHSAA is coming from. JCPS AD was the most pessimistic.....but his district is like no other in the state. While COVID 19 continues to dictate our lives.....the cases would have to dramatically turn for the worse .....and it appears there is some evidence of plateauing at this point. We’re gonna have a season. It may not look like any season we’ve ever had....but we’re gonna play IMO

Yes, I will be staying home.

Here is my 2 cents... 1. To play is voluntary. So it’s up to families to let their kid play or not. 2. Maybe not in football but in most sports if schools are not playing they WILL be playing still. If anyone has tracked basketball and baseball most kids have been playing in Indiana and Georgia for over a month. It is much better to have these kids playing local with enforced guidance than to be in the Wild West of travel athletics.

I know some people will disagree about this outlook but that is alright.

Everyone will totally respect that Westie, while you respect the 98.9% who won't be staying home?
