I love the aggressive look! Looks mean. I wonder if it will have a HEMI.

Just saw it Monday on the car and driver site.
Base - $24,000
Second highest package -$ 34,000
SRT8- $37,500
If somebody wants one you gotta go SRT-8 or its just plain old car otherwise. You might as well get a v dub.

Thanks BCF.. I haven't seen any photos of the base models yet. First time I had seen it. Seems a little expensive. I was guessing about 30k tops for the SRT-8.

The first 5,000 will be the SRT8 and an automatic.

Also only three colors available black, silver and hemi orange. You could pre-order on 12/03 and they have already recieved 6000 with 4300 on the first day.

Why would you think that?
The 300 horse well optioned Mustang GT is $30k.
This challenger is a 'special' sort of car. We're talking the most sophisticated OHV v-8 ever made. And the challenger being the most anticipated car made in recent years (more so than even the camaro in most circles, due to the 35 years absence). Most dealerships will add a heft $10k bump sticker to this car. After taxes, I'd say getting one for less than $50k will be a bargain AND an investment.

You talking to man here that drives Hyundai's and Honda's.

I'd say your right about the bargain investment, especially if production of these models are going to be significantly low. Car collectors will grab them up quick. Do you know how long Dodge plans to produce these? I know my dad loved the older model challengers. He also favored the GTO's as well.

I have been out the loop for quite sometime now (ever since I got married) when it comes to any type of luxury car or item for that matter. Maybe once the kids get grown my luck will change:o. With as much as my two boys eat coupled with gas prices, a car like this is just a fantasy. I can only look, admire and wish.

Dodge will produce them for as long as people by them and it makes economical sense. With Chrysler being bought by a private equity company, the goal is profit... not popularity.
SRT may or may not last too long though. These divisions typically lose money. TRD for Toyota, SVT for Ford, etc. They generate hype for the company... Its like, you see a 500 horse Shelby GT-500.. and you decide, I can't afford it. So you take the regular Gt for $12k less. It makes them money. The brand itself "SRT" will probably never see a penny of profit. Much like Ford took a major loss on all of their Boss 429's built by Kar Kraft in 1969 and 1970.

This is the car I WILL own..I dont dwell on our high gas prices, nor do I drive a tiny economobile that is designed like a ball cap on 12 inch tires..Thank you Dodge..My dream car has always been a '70 Challenger R/T, but the SRT8 will be less expensive, even if the markup is $10k, it will be worth it, for me anyways, lol....beautiful..

This is the first that I have heard of the Trans Am, I know they considered one in a few years based on the gto and camaro styles but they decided against it for the near future.

IMO the Trans Am is prettier than the Camaro..love that front end!

Yea guys I want that car over all others now that I have seen it, but after looking it up pontiacs gm or president shot it down after the release of the new G8 that is coming out. They do plan on remodeling the GTO because it is no longer in production now due to small amount of sells. I guess we can pray they change their minds though because I would love a black one with the gold screaming chicken (phoenix)!
