Belfry Pirates 2008
#1
I see a trip back to the Pizza Box in the future. Returning almost everybody, only have about 12 seniors total, the Pirates are loaded next year!
#2
So are WE !!!!!!!!!!!!
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

Hardest hit defensively in the backfield and on the line. Corey Coleman will likely move back to LB, and Phildo's a Sr. John and Ryan both graduate. Buddy Ro's replacement will probably be the most contested, and if those aspiring DEs all fight for it then we'll come out deeper up front.

I see Timmy (obviously) and Shawn Dotson going to the backfield, probably Walt going to DE or DT... Not really sure about the rest.

Offensively, I see both Timmy and Thomas alternating at the vacant backfield slot. Shawn Dotson and a few others rotating at WR. Corey returns for TE, but our 2nd tight in the double tight formation is kinda up for grabs. I don't know enough of the younger linemen to guess who'll replace Jimbo.
#4
The lineman I'm not sure of, Cory Coleman is playing tight end next year. The backfield will be Thomas, Ivan, and Charlie. Timmy will likely move in at corner, and I think it's VERY possible freshman Nathan Carroll starts at safety.
#5
Gonna be tough next year... Ivan needs to live in the weight room an at HIT this off season...
#6
Anyone wanna guess our starting lineup?
#7
Our Offense:

QB- Andrew Elkins
HB- Ivan Lee
HB- Thomas Varney
FB- Charlie Dotson
WR- ???
TE- Cory Coleman
OL- Randy Webb
OL- Ryan "Roid" Blackburn
OL- Chancey Cisco
OL- John Bishop
OL- Casey Whetstone
#8
Record might not prove it BUT 2008 could be better than this year..........upgraded schedule is needed..............
#9
My guess at the starting lineup:

OFFENSE
QB Elkins
FB Dotson
HB T. Varney
HB Lee
TE Coleman
SE Lovern
T R. Blackburn
T R. Webb
G Whetstone
G Bishop?
C Cisco

DEFENSE
NG Webb
DT ?
DT ?
DE Gary Hall
DE Ivan Lee
LB C. Dotson
LB Coleman
CB Lovern
CB Elkins
S T. Varney
S S. Dotson

The D'Tackles and the other Guard position are wide open right now. I would rather see Corey Coleman at a DT (where he dominates) and see one of those promising Freshman LB's get the start. I am using wishful thinking b putting Lovern at the starting SE... I think Thoams Varney proved himself as the heir apparent at the HB psoition for next season, but we have to use Lovern's speed and athleticism as much as possible, and thus I feel SE would be a smooth transition.

Dotson will make an excellent replacement at Safety, Lovern is the natural choice to step in at CB. I'd like to see someone else emerge as another CB option, because I'd prefer Elkisn to only go one way as much as possible.

Belfry needs to hit the off-season hard in terms of individual development. The backs all need to attend HIT Center... and all the ends need to be in Individual Camps to improve our pass catching and route running ability. even though we won't use it much, 7 on 7 passing cams might not be a bad idea so our receivers and QB can get on the same page and develop some timing.

I think Timmy will play WR,
and Jon May maybe,

Nathan Carroll IMO could start over Shawn at SS
#11
Looks to be another tough team.
#12
the Bigger Beast From The East

but i wish this year was the year.
#13
Ivan Lee & Andrew Elkins are going to have to lead this team. They have plenty of expierience now.

Does anyone know if there are any extra talented players at the middle school levels coming to high school soon?
#14
Did anyone else have trouble getting out of the stadium? My car was painted to support Belfry and LC fans were screaming and booing us and getting very close to the car. I was a bit surprised and, I must admit, a little nervous! Wink

Typical behavior outta idiots from that area. When we went to the St.X/Trinity regular season game there were Trinity fans (boys in their late teens, early 20's) behind us cussin every breath, F-this, F-that everyother word. A couple guys sittin infront of us had their families with em, 4-5 little kids. One guy finally got up and told them boys to either move, shut the **** up or be forced to move or shut up, lol. Needless to say they shut up quick.
#17
I had no problem getting out, but I did see some nasty behavior..lol..Guess that's typical of some people...We have a lot of freshman talent..all they have to do is step up to the plate! We have a freshman that could step up in each position to be honest! They are full of talent and heart!
#18
Seem's as though he was one of the few that was blocking that night, correct me if im wrong. But hopfully he will play DT and OT next year!!
#19
Everyone saw this!!! Jimbo done fine! And so did Roid, they held there own for sure! But we have some big guys on the sidelines. Hit the weight room boyz!!!! Speed is "EVERYTHING" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#20
And he done GREAT!!!!!!!! I call Casey and Roid the "Twin towers" They will NOT Fall!!!! Not this time!!!!!!!!!
#21
But we need some guys to step up,the younger guys CAN!! DO IT!!

I would be interested in knowing what Belfry's schedule will be next year. Is it the same? Are they going to try and pick up a few over the edge games.
#24
Belfry is always going to be awesome...I see them doing good next year and on and on....
#25
It will be the same ole same ole with Belfry.
They will mow over teams around here like little yard gnomes until they reach Louisville.
When they get there anything could happen.
I was extremely disappointed to see them lose at state.
Belfry isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
#26
I can think of a couple of teams they won't "mow over".

I would love to hear who will stand in their way.
#28
Russell they will not "mow over". Breathitt after laying a complete egg this year against them I'm sure would love a crack at them. Mason County is another team that could cause them problems in the playoffs. Russell and Breathitt both return alot of starters.

They most likely will dominate their district. After that I don't think they can take anyone lightly.

Love away.

I hear ya...same for me...i made sure the doors were locked and windows up.....I had one of them try to pull out in front of me trying to get out of the parking lot at the staduim and I didnt let them out because I had been waitnig much longer and I needed gas, and they were honking at me the entire time and even followed me out of the lot laying on their horn..

Central fans in general were so rude
