Corbin at Johnson Central. Thoughts?

Corbin has never won at Johnson Central. I think this is a tale of two offenses. You have the heavy run vs a heavy pass teams. The two best athletes on the field for each team is Johnson Centrals RB Zack MCCoart and Corbins QB Kade (KID) Elam. I expect this one to be a dandy. They won't be no running clock here. It will be running all over the field.
I will give Johnson Central the edge where they are at Home since Corbin has to prove they can win in their house. Corbin has started slow in some games this year and cannot start slow in this one or it will be a loss. Johnson Central on the other hand cant allow Corbin to walk all over that defense with Kid Elam or it will be a loss. Should be perfect football weather next week and that means NO EXCUSES.
PROJECT A MATCHUP
regular season (neutral field)
[2024] Corbin (KY) 40 (62%), [2024] Johnson Central (Paintsville, KY) 34 (38%)
playoffs (neutral field)
[2024] Corbin (KY) 41 (74%), [2024] Johnson Central (Paintsville, KY) 31 (26%)

I'm going to say this one could be a little higher scoring than normal because I don't see either defense capable of shutting down the other.
I'm taking Corbin
Corbin 28
Johnson Central 27

I am sticking with my preseason statement. Johnson Central should be favored to beat Corbin at home. The only places that I see that Corbin has an edge are at quarterback, receivers, and possibly in the secondary, but Johnson Central should dominate the LOS, especially in the second half. Corbin's pass coverage will not be a factor in this game. Their secondary better be able to make open field tackles because they should get plenty of opportunities.
Austin Slone has played great in his first season running the JC offense and Zack McCoart is playing at least as well as he did before his injury last season. IMO, Elam will need to have a great performance for Corbin to win in Paintsville, and if JC does not turn the ball over, even a superhuman performance by Elam may not be enough for a Corbin win.

Corbin needs Estep and Eli to play this game. What’s their status?

That was my question is the health of both teams. I think JC is fairly healthy. Corbin has some key guys not 100%. I think both are going to have trouble stopping the other regardless. But I am going with JC at home to bully their way to a win at home. JC will keep the Corbin defense on the field all night. That style wears on you. Turnovers will be big and can flip this game on its head. I still don’t think JC stands a chance of consistently guarding Corbin’s receivers either but it is easier to get a few incompletions or negative plays against Corbin than to stop JC from getting a minimum of 3 yards a play. If Corbin can score early and build a lead, they can win. But they cannot play from behind this game. JC 35 Corbin 28 but I won’t be overly surprised if that gets reversed.

Golden Eagles by 7 at home.

I’ll take the Golden Eagle Turds at home in this one

I have to give the edge to JC at home. Whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game. Should be a great one.

Probably if not the best game this Friday night like to see Johnson Central win but it’s definitely could go the other way just hope for an injury free game

Ordinarily, I would be super-hyped about this game. But, in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't mean diddly squat. If you took the best players from both these teams and formed a JohnCor All-Star team, that team would still lose by 40 to Boyle. These two losers are just playing to see who will be the first to get their tail kicked by Haddix' superpower team.
While this game won't matter much in the long run of final standings, I would like to see Corbin win over there as a payback for the classless behavior exhibited by some of the Johnson County faithful the last time the Hounds were over there. Those in attendance who weren't from Paintsville said it was the worst display of sportsmanship they had ever seen. The Corbin announce crew said the same thing. GO HOUNDS!!!

That's really odd. The couple of times we went to Johnson Central, I couldn't have been treated any better!!! And I was expecting the worst. The Ashland fans had me scared of the Johnson City faithful! But I made some long lasting friendships that night.

A supporter of a program that showed a year ago that they will do absolutely anything to win a title except earn one fairly complaining about Johnson Central's sportsmanship.

You even claimed that Corbin was the best in 4A after the team lost to Boyle County. If Corbin could not win a title last season with three talented fifth year senior transfers, then a title is not likely in the Redhounds' foreseeable future.
I have nothing against most Corbin fans, but I will be rooting for Corbin's opponents, no matter who they play. The people of Corbin need to clean house and restore some integrity to their football program. The players and citizens of Corbin deserve better. Only then will Corbin deserve a shot at a state title.

Oh, and IF JC plays consistently and doesn't have to play catch up, they win. If Corbin takes a lead in this game, it could be a long night for the Golden Eagles.
Good luck to both teams for an injury free contest.

Reportedly, according to some Corbin fans, Some Johnson Central fans were cheering after a Corbin player was injured. According to Johnson Countians who attended, the applauding fans were few in number and could not see the injured player from their location in the stands.
I was not at the game, but the JC administration has never tolerated bad behavior by its fans. When it occurs, it is dealt with swiftly. If you look around at JC home games, you will find members of the administration patrolling the stands with walkie talkies.

Not saying that there aren't three or four classy JC fans. I'm sure there are. I was just speaking about the throng of classless Paintsvillains who cheered the demise of a severely injured Redhound and booed as he laid on the ground for 45 minutes. I guess they wanted to hurry and get the game over so they could head over to Dairy Queen for that chicken finger basket.

Talked to a couple of nice Hazard fans at the game Friday night. Fine gentlemen. They said that we(Corbin) will have to beat JC AND the home cooking in order to win.. They said Johnson Central and Pikeville were the two biggest home cheaters in this part of the state. Said Pikeville was the worst, Johnson Central , second. I don't know enough about either place to say for sure but the Hazard guys seemed sure of it.

Should be a good one. For some reason I'm thinking a shoot out like the JC vs Belfry game, earlier this year.
If I remember right, JC won the first two games and it's been all Corbin ever since.
Bull I'm thinking we should make a small wager
The next time I'm around the Corbin area we'll go fishing. If Corbin wins I'll buy the bait. If JC wins, you buy the bait
Granny Bear can even get in on this deal if she wants
I might be wrong but this might be Apple Day weekend coming up. Someone else may know for sure. Be plenty to do before the game if it is.
Mare that time for it
