2025 UK Baseball
#1
9 SEC teams ranked in the preseason Top 25, but the Cats isn't one of them. What kind of season does everyone think they will havre after going to Omaha last season.
#2
Hard to believe with it below zero outside, but we are only three weeks away from the start of the UK baseball season. I know we lost a big chunk of our roster, but one would think an SEC school coming off a World Series appearance would at least merit a preseason top 25 spot. I suspect Coach Mingione is already playing up the no respect line to his team. Last year was a dream, only hope this year is even somewhat close to that.

Hopefully the Cat's can keep building off of last years run.  The SEC baseball is just like  basketball and football,  it's brutal .

From things I have seen, they do have a good transfer group coming in along with a good class. Of course you never know how well a team gels until the games begin. I like Mingione and how he gets the best out of his teams so I feel he will get them going. Hope they make another deep run.

UK not being in the Top 25 shows for the millionth time that polls are useless. Glad it happened though, great motivation. This brutal winter we are having has me 1000% fired up for baseball and makes me determined to get to Lexington for a few games this year.

I’m telling you, if we’re playing someone pretty good and you go on a reasonably warm day or night, you’ll be hooked. The stadium is great, you’re right on top of the action, and now you can have a beer at the game! And unless it’s the postseason, it’s a cheap ticket. The best value in all of UK sports.

1000% true. Nothing like going to a UK baseball game

Saw a different poll today that had UK at 20. But like other polls it doesn't matter until games are being played. Really excited about the upcoming college baseball season

Cats off to a 4-1 start after sweeping Belmont this weekend in Nashville. Small sample size, but early results look like maybe our pitching is a little stouter this year, but we may not be the offensive juggernaut we were a year ago. Cats open home season with games Tuesday against Evansville, and Wednesday against Morehead, and weather looks cool but ok. Need to pile up as many pre-conference wins as possible before we hit that monster.

Some really good pitching performances especially against Belmont

Cats lighting up the scoreboard yesterday beating Evansville 24-3. Got Morehead today!

8-2 over Morehead today, six runs in the first then coasted. 6-1 now, with a good chance for three more wins this weekend if they can get all the games in, as Hofstra is in town.

Three game sweep over Hofstra, 9-1 now with eight straight wins. Play a home and home with EKU Tuesday and Wednesday (in Richmond Tuesday, Lex. Wednesday) weather permitting, then hit the road to Georgia this weekend to start the SEC minefield. We will learn a lot more about how strong we may or may not be beginning then.

SEC has always been brutal and it won't be any different this year.
#15
Georgia is 12–1 so far. Three unbeaten SEC teams, and eight more with only one loss. So yeah, it will be just like the SEC basketball schedule, no time for any breathers.
#16
I made a boo-boo. UK hosts Wofford in a three-game series at home this weekend. The SEC opener at Georgia is next weekend in Athens.
#17
I didn't even catch that myself. I was thinking they played Georgia this weekend also. Good glad they have one more week for preparation for SEC play.

Won two of three over a Wofford team that is no joke, they were 11-2 coming in. Cats now 12-2, have a Tuesday home game with Northern Illinois before heading to Georgia next weekend.

Time for the real season to begin. And yes Wofford is no joke and winning 2 out of 3 is a good series win. And the loss was self inflicted it seemed as they completely went off the rails late in the game.
#20
Cats lose SEC opener at Georgia 12-6, after being up 6-2. Today they jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but this time sealed the deal winning 10-7. Rubber game is Sunday at 1 pm. Would be huge to win two out of three on the road to begin conference play, especially against a Georgia team ranked third nationally and that was 20-1 before today’s loss.
#21
Should have won yesterday with the 6-2 lead but at least they won today tying the series. Series wins are huge.
#22
Ended Georgia's 17-game winning streak. Nice!
#23
Lost the series today as they fell 17-10. Was 10-10. Giving up this many runs in a 3 game series is brutal. We scored enough runs to sweep Georgia, but hard to win when you are giving up just as much.
#24
Yeah, giving up 36 runs in a three game series isn’t going to get it done. We get Auburn (16-4) at home next weekend, really, really need to win at least two in that series.
#25
Letting the 1st game of the series get away from us cost us the series. Even though we had a shot Sunday, the game Friday was ours.
#26
Two bad losses so far this week. Lost the midweek game at home to Murray St. 5-4, then last night lost the first game of the home weekend series with Auburn 8-7. Gave up two in the top of the ninth to lose that one, including the game winner scoring on an error. I think the best we can hope for this year is just making the NCAA tourney, a top 16 spot hosting looks out of the question.
#27
And let one slip away again today. Bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th I think, maybe 11th and couldn't get the winning run in.
