Guy Morriss to coach Boyle Co?
#1
Just saw on WKYT that they believe Boyle Co. will announce tomorrow that Guy Morriss will be the new head football coach at Boyle Co.

Anyone have any thoughts concerning this?

This can't be for real. Is he from there or something?
#3
all I have to say is WOW!
#4
Not a joke, it's on the news.

He has a farm or home there from what WKYT was saying.

He has a lot of ties to Boyle Co.

WKYT said that the high school would not confirm or DENY the rumors, but that WKYT believed Morriss would be announced as the coach tomorrow.

I jus saw it on the Wkyt site. I have no clue what a connection might be there, unless somethin he hooked up from the old days in Lex? They were saying he is also talkin to college and NFL staffs about openings, so it's sorta weird that ya would drop all the way to the high school ranks, even if the others don't work out. Heck, even after Mumme got done shafting UK, he still landed at a DII powerhouse.

Perhaps he just wanted to get back to the grass roots of the sport and just enjoy seeing a bunch of young kids develope. Perhaps he would just enjoy the passion and excitement that a community such as Boyle Co. exemplifies supporting their own kids and their program.

Kind of like that pro baseball player that just cant wait to get to coach that Little League team when his playing days are over.

More to life than money, and bigger aint always better.

I didn't mean that the news is always right, simply that "I" was not trying to make a joke.

Say it isn't so... Thats just shocking to me, going from coaching in the Big 12 to coaching a Class 4A high school football team in Kentucky.... WOW!

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't money the reason he left UK 6 years ago? I hope he's miserable after what he did to UK.
#21
He's terrible anyways. He couldnt win at any college so I would drop down to High School if I was him too.

What he did to UK? You can thank Hal Mumme for whatever was done to UK .

If he had stayed we would have never have gotten Rich Brooks.

Think about that.Smile

Unreal.
Why on earth???
#24
If that is the case then Pikeville High School needs to get him.

I agree that UK is better off with Brooks as HC but Morris leaving UK purely because of the salary dispute was complete BS and it took UK 4 seasons to recover from his leaving.
So was there a presser today on this or not?????
#26
Wkyt jus reported he was a no-show, but talks are supposedly still goin on.

Morriss was going to go to Baylor regardless of how much money was on the table because of it was his dream job. That, and the fact that when he left, the scholarship reductions had not really started to affect the program yet, and he knew the worst days were yet to come.

Now, for this story. I think it would be great for Kentucky High School football to have someone like Morriss take this job. The bottom line is, he could still be coaching at a lot of colleges if he wanted to. This hire may give other High Schools in the state enough insentive to pursue other coaches with that kind of experience and ability. (that is, if this whole thing actually happens)

UK's new athletic director at the time was not to fond of him. He went to Baylor for some major money. He did nothing bad to the CATS. Actually he did pretty good.
#29
Well... I won't get started on UK's AD.... but trust me, I could fire off a "blue-streak" on the subject of him! Anyway... you're right CT, Morriss did nothing bad to UK. It was his dream job @ Baylor & they did come with the "money". Morriss did a pretty good job while @ UK... Mumme was the "skunker". And Mr. Kimball...
