I just seen it on Ch. 5...I think it was Josh Prater from AC on the receiving end...

Only thing impressive about it was that it was on the break which was nice. But the ball bounced around the hoop and finally fell in. Yeah I think it was Prater receiving the posterizing.

He is what 6 foot 8 or 9, who cares if he gets a dunk, if I recall his team lost. So who cares if the big guy gets a dunk.

I am fine dude, I just hate to see everyone make such a big deal about a dunk. Basketball has lost its fundamentals and that is sad. Kids go to practice and work on dunks instead of shooting free throws and other fundamental parts of the game. Yeah it was nice to see a kid get a dunk, but you must look at the bigger issue and thats the fact that his team lost. So which was more important, getting a dunk or getting the win?

Well it dont take a rocket scientist to say he'd take the win...but next time i post sumthing like this, ill make sure i add that his team lost...I didnt kno you couldnt make a thread and post what you think and feel...I didnt kno i had to get your permission to say sumthing...But lets get back on topic and not take anything away from Adams..

Yeah it's just not a big deal to me though...I just wish more kids around here were capable of dunking. High school ball in kentucky is horrible right now compared to past years.

Congrats adams its always nice to see someone to get dunked on lol
02-22-2008, 12:45 AM
A dunk is just worth 2 points same as a lay up, so who cares.
02-22-2008, 01:18 AM
I think its pretty cool to see a dunk around here even if he is 6'9 or 6'10. If you dont like the fact of dunking, why do you even post on this thread?

Congrats to Adams on the dunk! But seriously at his height, he should be dunking it every game! The kid has potential, but he is going to have to be more aggressive! I've seen him play several times and he doesn't play as well as he should for his size! He gets shut down by smaller guys, loses the ball a lot, and appears to wear down quick. But hey, he has another year left, so we will see what he does as a senior. He could be awesome. It isn't everyday you see a kid with his size around these parts!

Elisha Jusitce comes within an inch of dunking in a game and he gets no hype about it. A freaking 7 footer dunks and it's the greatest thing ever.

All the stuff you just said about Devan has been said for 3 years. Is it not getting old? Do people not see that he is not progressing? He's not going to get better. He's a weak big man, can't bang inside the paint. Ashley Hatfield can boss Devan around, and that shouldn't be happening.

So which was more important, getting a dunk or getting the win?You know, 15+ years ago, it seems that teams from this region would go to the state tourney and always put on a good showing. Never the first round blow outs like it seems we have these days. After practice, for 20 or 30 minutes, players that could, or even come close to dunking did it as a ritual sort of thing. Turn the boom box on, start dunking, or jumping up, doing pull ups on the rim till you get high enough to dunk. I will admit that a dunk isnt the best shot in basketball, but a good dunk will get your team and our fans fired up.

This kid has came a million miles and you should be kicked off of here for bashing him..at least that is what the rules say!

Improvement is one thing, but he should be a lot better than he is right now and he only has a year to do it in?? I wish him luck though!!

Never bashed him, I did NOT say anything to put him down. Nothing along the lines of he is horrible, sucks, is garbage, nothing. I said he was weak, which he is, nothing wrong with some criticism. If you can't become dominant from working with Todd May, you just aint gonna get there.
I would have no problem with someone saying Elisha isn't tall enough, it's true, Elisha needs to grow another inch or two to make big noise. That's just constructive criticism.

All I am going to say about dev in this thread is this. He is averaging a double double. Throw in 4 or 5 block shots a game, a few assist. All the time, while having two and three around him every time he touches the ball. There isnt a team in this region, or even out of this region that Pikeville has played that had a player that would guard him one on one. Saying that he tires to early, I guess you didnt watch at the Expo Center on the 94 foot long floor where he played all but 2 minutes while Dobbins Bennit kept running in one and two players that were over 6'7" at him all night. Dev sat for 2 minutes in that game. As far as dunks goes, I am going to guess that he has had 12-14 this year. He gets fouls called on him. He doesnt sit there and talk to the refs about it. He takes his foul and either goes back down the court, or gets to his place on the free throw line. That is something that very VERY few players from any team does anymore.

I'd just like to say that watching Pikeville play Valley, Kurby did guard Devan one on one, and so did Jonah and Ashley.

I would love that, because I guarantee he was guarded one on one at least 1 time that game. That's why at Pikeville, Valley won by 28, they didn't trap him and let him dish it, they made him work, and he couldn't find open people because of it.

I'm not giving a 7 footer props for dunking on a 6 foot guy. Dunk over Ashley Hatfield or Dustin May and he can have some props from me. Dwight Howard dunks on other big men, that's how he get is "props".

I am going to have to disagree. I think Devon is leaps and bounds above where he was last year.

Josh Prater is 6'4, he also dunked on Landon Slone(6'3) in the ALL A...Dwight Howard is also in the NBA for a reason

IDK about that. Devon was already in the air when Landon come underneath him. Landon wasn't standin there waitin to take a charge or anything. Adams did slam it home hard though. Thought he was gonna dunk once tonight and prolly could have but chose to toss it in.

I beg to differ with you. I have seen Devan up close for the past three years and he has gotten 100% better in that time. It is actually amazing the progress he has made in the past few years. I don't think he was pulling down double-doubles on a regular basis his freshmen and sophomore years like he is now. Maybe his dad can post his year end stats from his freshmen and sophomore years and then post this years stats to compare them to. I am sure there is a big difference.
