New Business
#1
What kind of business do you think the city of Pikeville needs? There are several places to open a new business in town (especially on second street). What do you think would be good there?
#2
Old Navy, Kohl's, Cracker Barrel, D i c k's Sporting Goods, Buffalo Wild Wings. I would also like to see a place like The Shack used to be, where kids can hang out. The Shack used to have live music, laser tag, and pizza.

I remember that. I loved it.

I'm thinking about changing my major to Business cause I'd love to run my own business. I have some great ideas, but was wondering what would actually do well in town before I make rash decisions

I'd like to see a Jimmy John's in Pikeville.

If you go to their website you can actually get information about starting your own JJ's.

O' Charleys, Best Buy, Value City.
#6
Eh, O'Charley's is overrated IMO. Too much like Applebee's for it to make any impact.

Best Buy would be a nice addition.

Yeah, those sound good. I'd LOVE LOVE to have a Golden Corral here. I'd put it out of business! haha.

I'd really like to have my own business though. Not a branch of something or a chain of something. What do you think would be needed or do good in town?
#8
Something like a Golden Corral's or Ryan's would do great here. We need more retail stores. One thing that would boost the economy here would be to develop a ATV trail in Pike County, too many people here love riding ATV just not many places to go.

The problem with an ATV trail owned by anyone or the city, would be the liability issues that go along with it.

As soon as someone gets hurt or killed, there would be a lawsuit.

I don't know if there's a place like this in Pikeville, but a couple successful stores in Downtown Lexington are the Paisley Peacock and Jonk. Those are both vintage stores that have tons of vintage clothes, shoes, records, furniture, and various old junk.

Best Buy would never go out of business because I would be there to much, its my new version of what Toys R' Us was to me as a kid lol.

There is always the world's oldest profession!

Actually, I have a great business plan for Pikeville, just need a financial backer.

To be honest, I haven't seen much of her. She's kind of like Kenny Smalls....just disappears for extended periods of time.

I think I've decided what I want to do. Gonna look into it though.

Oh, I looked into that Jimmy Johns thing and I think it would do great around here. I'd eat there! someone should open one here

  EXCELLENT IDEA!! I could very easily spend an entire day in either of those places, or places like it..I LOVE that kind of stuff..I'm an 8 track/vinyl, lost in the 60s and 70s guy anyways..I definitely grew up in the wrong era..

We need a Footlocker! And an American Eagle store. Im tired of going to lexigition to buy clothes! Maybe they should just put a mall in pikeville some where. And I mean an actuall mall like ones you see in big citys...but just smaller.
#22
An outlet mall isn't a bad idea. One that included Old Navy, GAP, Am. Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc.

The problem is getting those stores to believe that Pikeville will get enough traffic to make it profitable.

Yea I dont see a problem convinceing AE, Old Navy, and GAP to put a store in Pikeville... But IMO we will never see a Abercrombie and Fitch store in Pikeville...Or Hollister for that matter

But usually, where there's an American Eagle, not far away is an Abercrombie store.

I don't really care, I've stopped shopping at both. I stick with Old Navy and Kohl's.

I agree that we need those near here. But where would they put a mall?
#26
They'll find a place somewhere in pikeville.
#27
MALL will NEVER happen in Pikeville.

Ground was broken for one in the early 80s...developer bankrupt.

My idea for Pikeville is a downtown Starbucks
#28
That'd be nice
#29
Downtown definitely needs a Starbucks!!! that would stay open late and open EARLY. Someone was trying to get one in the bottom of the parking garage before the PC bookstore went in there, but weren't successful with negotiations with the Pike Co. Transit Authority (or something like that). I hear a LOT of people who want a Starbucks - anywhere in P-ville. If you're looking seriously into a business - I'd put my money there. Think about it: college students....Expo Center....lawyers and bankers....moms and teachers going to PES.....shew, I want a tall latte right now!

Aren't they building a Tractor Supply beside Burger King?
Tractor Supplies are really nice!!!
