#4
congratz coach Thacker...i think he will be the one to turn ER's football program around.....that is...if the talent ER has will come out and play
#5
alot of new faces this year(tyler brown, chris brown, ricky hill, corey ratliff, and all the others)i believe peyton elswick is coming back not sure though.
#6
Congrads Coach Thacker. Hope you can get the Tribe back on track. Good luck this up-coming season, I'm afraid you will need it.
#7
Where did he coach before? Was he the head coach of the girls basketball team in Franklin County? IF he is then he is one heck of a basketball coach.

Its the same guy. Hardworker. He is still the girls basketball coach at Franklin County. It will be interesting to see if they do anything to try and keep him.
#9
Is this official or not?
#10
I played basketball for him and I will tell you that if he is coming to ER then they will be getting a quality coach.
#11
I guess Thacker will be glad to come back home. If I'm not mistaken, he played football, basketball, and baseball for Elkhorn in the early '90s.

Congrats East Ridge. Good luck next year.
#12
What year did he graduate?

1990 I think???

I really hope he can turn everything around. ER's problem is the work ethic. 90% of the players in years past have been too lazy to lift, too lazy to attend spring practice, or even real practice for that matter. Maybe he can make this program more dedicated.
#15
Trust me he will make them work.
#16
I think next season will be very good for the us! Everyone likes Coach Thacker and his Spread offense. It will take some time to get into the groove of things but we have gotten alot of accomplished in 3 days.
#17
Who is playing quarterback right now?
.
#18
Well the starting positions are not definate right now but as of know first string looks to be sophomore Bryan Casey and second string looks to be junior Channing Pugh. But like I said they are not definate, they can change anytime.
#19
Well you just killed it! I thought things were going to change but when you start talking about him running the spread offense it puts in perspective how things are going to be. ER will have trouble ever winning no matter if they had a great NFL coach. You have to have something to work with. Er has some atheletes but will they come out? Are they good enough to run the spread offense? I haven't seen many teams in the mountians that can run the spread offense. I wish them all the best!!! They deserve to have a program built there, but you cannot have that many coaching changes and expect something great to happen.

Valley was 6-6 and won a playoff game. When was the last time East Ridge could say that? When was the last time they went to the playoffs????????

Oh thats right never. East Ridge is in no place to be calling out Shelby Valley, or anyone else for that matter.

This Thacker "kid" you refer to has to be 35-37 years old but I am sure he would enjoy the compliment!! Wink

They should be pretty fast next year and Casey can throw...They'll have small and fast lineman so it might work.
.
#24
WOW!!! I am suprised! I never thought he would leave Frankfort. I have seen him as a coach and he will mean business which is what ER needs. I do believe he can coach but i have no idea if is a football coach. He coached girls basketball. Has he ever coached football? good luck to him and the ER team. The kids deserve a good quality coach that will turn their program around.

Where in the world are they getting small and fast linemen??. Name ONE that has both qualities, or even stands up to the "fast" part!!!
#26
Before going to Franklin County he coached football at Frankfort High School and then when he went to Franklin County he coached special teams and then I think was moved to offensive coordinator.
#27
Hootie if you don't know the coach and who they have coming out how can you even open your mouth. I guess thats the reason you are a hootie. Rolleyes

Good Luck Coach Thacker . I'm the Warrior #1 fan and if there is anything I can do to help your transition at ER let me know Good Luck. Now if we can get your buddy to join the tribe.

I think some of you misunderstood what I was talking about. I meant no personal attacks at all. I have been around for a while and not many teams in the mountains have been very successful running the spread. As for the kids that they have out I have no idea, but if they had the atheletes that could run the spread successfully than they would have won more than a few games last year. You have to have lineman that can get out in space, run, and pass block, not to metion you have to have a stud at qb, and speed all around him.

I was not talking about ER at all. I wish him and his team the best, but when you run the spread you put your defense in the position to be on the field a lot and if you don't have true football players to step up to that challenge then you find yourself playing the catch up game.

As for SV's mess, I wouldn't call that a mess. Things are looking up for Valley. I am not saying that they are going 10-0 next year, but they did win a playoff game. They are working in the weightroom everyday from 6 grade to juniors. Also they do not have Sheldon Clark and Belfry in their district. That always helps!

I wish ER the best. I am not on here to compair other  schools. I like to see kids succeed anywhere they are!!! Good luck!
