Paintsville Football 2005
#1
I didn't see a thread on the upcoming Tiger season.

With Coach Runyon at the helm, I expect some big things from these Tigers...Go Paintsville!

Whatcha think?

#2
i think that there gonna be tough to beat
#3
Did you get a chance to watch them last season Walter?
#4
yes i got to watch them last year they were good then i think they will be better this year
#5
How many players did they lose from last season?
#6
im not sure but i dont think they lost much at all
#7
they lost one senior on the line, they'll be good, but not as good as what people are talking about them to be... they aren't even in the 10 ten for BGP
but thats the only rankings i've seen so far, can someone post other poles about rankings????
#8
WOW! Not even in the top on BGP? Smile Just cancel the season... Smile

Really, the Tigers are going to be good, and they have a bright future as well. Coach Runyon demands the best, and he's not going to settle for winning a district title...he's goals are much more than that.
#9
Paintsville will finsih 2nd in the district and maybe 2nd in the region. I think Paintsville will have a good team but I don't think they will be good enough to win at Pikeville....Good luck to the Tigers this year and represent Class A Region 4 District 8 well.

I didnt mean it like that lol i dont wanna put them down, but for what has been said about them, i'd of though they'd of been in the top 10.....
They'll deff. be better this year than last, and way better in years to come
#11
Paintsville is 4th in the region preseason, behind Pikeville, Lynn Camp, and Somerset. I believe they have as good of shot as the other three teams at winning the region.

I think that Paintsville does have a legit chance to defeat Pikeville at Pikeville. The Panthers lost quite a bit but do return a key role at QB. Paintsville returns all but one starter on the line and should be easily replaced. The thing about this game will come down to the game plan, both coaches are new at their respective positions and have to look for tendencies. In 2001 Paintsville whipped Pikeville at Pikeville on Senior Night and then Pikeville returned the favor the next season defeating a highly talented Paintsville crew that was bit by the injury bug. Home field doesn't really mean much in the rivalry just who wants it more.

As for the rankings, I think they go on the success of the previous season. Pikeville was in the state-semi's so generally they would be high in the rankings. Paintsville was having a great season until rb/db Hans Doderer was injured at Grundy (correct if I'm wrong). Will be a great region to watch this season as it will be wide open....but I still don't see this region jumping the hurdle to make it to Papa John's Stadium.

Well now that you base it on who wants it more, the Panthers seem to have the advantage. Pikeville has a whole new attitude. and coach runyons going to have to settle for 2nd this year. thats just the way i see it.
#14
Is Chuke still with the program?
#15
No Catdawg...he's gone...
#16
Wouldn't know where he went or is he still in the school system just not coaching.

I figured you'd say something like that because you are from Pikeville and haven't seen Paintsville. From what I've heard Coach Runyon has been having his boys go through a reality check too(I work with a boys dad that plays for Paintsville), haven't made it by the field since I don't get off work til about 6 and they are usually done by then. Too early to tell and how the teams will conduct themselves on and off the field during the season. Should be a good game though, hope I can attend.

Pikeville will be Pikeville, Paintsville will be Paintsville
Paintsivlle may have alot of returning starters, and that will make a difference, but not enough to beat us on our own field...espically since its for district

It should be a good game...I'm looking forward to it...

Nothing to roll your eyes about and I'd say you haven't seen them either unless there is a camera there taping it for you. Shoot I haven't even seen them and I live in Prestonsburg, but my comment was strictly based on a previous one about how Pikeville wants it more. How do you know Paintsville doesn't want it more??? You don't, so that comment was quite rediculous in my opinion. No smack talking especially in a Paintsville thread, if you want to discuss the game create its own or heck wait til it's a week or two before the game. Paintsville only lost one starter from my understanding and Pikeville has a lot gone due to graduation. Nine times out of ten this game will indeed be for the district that is unless there is a let down one week which I doubt. Good luck to both teams this season and may the better team win. 8)

no i haven't seen them, but i was just basing that on what i saw from last year, to me i didnt really see the talent in them
#22
Good to see you around EKR, wait I'm not around that much. I'm not going to say much, other than TWO talented teams. Paintsville may not have shown you a lot of talent, but they were only down what 21-6 at halftime. They had an OLB who quit that week after starting almost all games for the whole year and the previous one. It's hard to see talent in a predictable offense. Good Luck to both talented teams as I'm sure they'll both make us proud.

Chuke to my knowledge is still with the Paintsville school system, I seen him painting a curb the other day. I've heard he say he may be done coaching.

Chuke Williams is what got Paintsville beat...trying to put the belly-read in with that offense was like leading a horse to water but can't making it drink. It seemed to be working until Hans Doderer (sp?) was injured and the team apparently fell apart. Paintsville was WAY too one demensional and it's easy to stop that, he didn't realize that Paintsville wasn't full of Dante Wright's, Michael West's, and an excellent line like he had at Lawrence Co. Anyway, back to the Tigers....I hope they are very successful this coming season and return to a powerhouse like the '78 and '85 teams under coach Walter Brugh.

You never know what can happen this coming season. I remember the same thing being said in 2001 and Paintsville came to Pikeville and pulled out a 20 point win. I think Pikeville took a huge graduation hit, they lost some good players. Paintsville had some big factors going against them last season. Their coaching was terrible, which was the biggest factor. They rarely worked on defense in practice, and ran the ball to the right almost every play. But Pikeville has to be the favorite, plain and simple. I just think it will be a much better game this season.

I agree....I hope both programs are able to get their respective program to where they are a legit state title contender each year......it will benefit both programs.

Thanks for the Chuke info. He has always been that way. It doesn't matter how much talent if you don't change it up someone will find a way to stop it when it really counts.

Has anyone heard abou the kid who transferred from paintsville to Johnson Central. All ive heard is that he is a hoss!! Idea

The only one I know you could be talking it about is Simon Davis. I've heard that he isn't playing football though.
