This game was over in the 5th inning. Hawks played very confidently!
Some highlights for Pike Central:
Tyler Hamilton with the win strikes out 6 in 5 innings.
Brandon "Buck" Martin hit a 3 run homer.
Justin Norman hit a solo homer.
Bobby McKinney hit a walk-off triple that scored the last two runs invoking the mercy rule.
Congrats Hawks! Keep up the good work.

And let's not forget that it was a terribly sloppy game in an at-times steady rain. Not that the rain only affected SV, of course not - but a messy, sloppy game is a total different situation than a dry, "normal" game. PC hit the ball very well last night, as SV's Justin Tackett struggled with the sloppy mound - something Tyler Hamilton didn't seem to struggle as much with. I would love to see a re-match of these two teams in tournament play, as both games this year have been under strange circumstances (rain and spring break).

Any time you get beat by this many runs you can not blame it on anything but the other team just beating you to death. If weather had anything to do with it then both of them would have been affected. It just looks to me that one team showed up and the other didn't.

Oh, no doubt PC hit the ball well - no question there. However, many of their runs were scored on errors - balls that otherwise would have been OUTS. Yes, I believe that does show that the weather was a factor, especially when you consider that SV's defense has been (otherwise) top-notch of late (no errors in 2 wins at P'burg, for example). I believe that the difference in the score was the lack of offense on SV's behalf - no doubt PC would have won anyway even without the rain because of their offense. The rain just contributed to it being a mercy, instead of 4-1 like it was before the 5th.

The past several times Tyler Hamilton has pitched there has been a lack of offense by the other team. He's really come on as the season has progressed. He's made himself a valuable member of the Hawks pitching staff!
