DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Gay marriage, seemingly the province of the nation's two coasts, is just weeks away from becoming legal in the heartland and apparently it will be years before social conservatives have a chance to stop it.

The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday unanimously upheld a lower-court ruling that rejected a state law restricting marriage to a union between a man and woman. Now gays and lesbians may exchange vows as soon as April 24 following the landmark decision.

I won't go into details because I don't like to argue about this subject. However, I have absolutely NO problem with it.

Well that's good. The nation is not going to fall apart because the fundies didn't get what they want.

I have no problem with homosexual people, only problem I have is when they protest for their rights. God did not intend on people to be gay, and not every one of us can be gay because we wouldn't be here if everyone was. People can be gay all they want, but when they protest it is what really gets under my skin.

So wrong and will stand and fight it to the end. Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

We now know if you protest for rights it's wrong and gets under this mans skin if your gay and want equal rights as heterosexual people

God and religion means nothing when it comes to law because our government is SECULAR. Not Christian,Muslim,Hindu or nothing issues like this can't be decided by religion through our government

Utter trash.
I don't have a problem with a homosexual, thats there choice. I disagree, and pray they will change there mind though.
The more we allow this garbage, the further we are separating ourselves from God protective hand, as a country.
Sodom and Gomorrha?
Hurricane Katrina?
More stuff to come?

This Country was founded on God fearing principles, or did you forget that?

Seconding this.

Either for gay rights or not, one thing EVERY PERSON has to agree on is that not everyone can be gay.

The way I see it, you were born with the same rights as everyone else, choosing to be a homosexual you lose some of those rights. Choices in life effect everything, people aren't born gay, they chose to be(Until it is proven that people are born gay, the statement is true that you aren't).

I strongly believe that no one can help who they are attracted to and you have to live your life to suit yourself, not others. I do not believe that people choose to be gay. If that was so then people choose to be straight. Why couldn't gay people then be straight to avoid ridicule from people like you and everyone else in this thread and straight people choose to be gay? CandyMan, can you wake up in the morning and decide that you are now attracted to the same sex? Probably not, because it's not a choice. Why would anyone choose to love someone and sacrifice their rights? Does the Constitution have in fine print that those rights apply to heterosexuals alone? No, they cover ALL people in this country. Choosing to be homosexual and in turn you have to give up some of your rights, my lord that is one of the dumbest things that I have heard in my entire life.

I ridicule no gay person, I just don't support their rights. I will never make fun of someone for being gay, that's their choice.

Take a look at out Presidents, were any of them gay? No, why? Because that is not respected in our world. I'm sorry, and it may offend people, but if you're gay you give up some rights, like marriage. It's just the way it is.

Like I said though, it doesn't bother me if people are gay, but when they're out in the streets raising hoopla because they can't get married or adopt a child, then that's when it irritates me. Most of these gays were raised by straight parents, they shouldn't raise kids differently just because they want to be homosexual. Raising a child with homosexual parents can influence a person to be homosexual, and that again, is where "you aren't born gay".

Never have I ever heard of such a thing. No, a president hasn't been gay.
We know this from all the FIRST LADIES?
We haven't had a black president either until this year.
It's all about acceptance and maybe one day the same thing could happen with a homosexual.
By the way, doesn't Iceland or somewhere like that have the first Lesbian leader?

Also, I have NEVER heard of such a thing about a gay person losing their rights for BEING gay. Do they have to sign up for this or something? LOL. Turn theirselves in for being gay so everyone in the government will know that the rights of the individual is stripped away?
Uh, NO, they don't.

Anways, it's not like it's going to affect every person if a same-sex couple gets married. And people, it's in Iowa, not in Kentucky. So you have to worry about it being in your "area" or whatever.
Sheesh!

Nobody is born gay, its a choice.
Gays should lose no rights, but they shouldnt be able to get married. If you believe what the Bible says, than thats hard to argue.

If your not born gay you can't be born straight because you can't be born one way and not the other

If in theory lets take all the god's principles out of this then. If man could sleep with another man and reproduce then so be it then it is meant to happen. If a woman could reproduce with another woman then so be it it is meant to happen. If it was meant by what ever power has any affect over this world, even if it was no power and we go by evoloution man has not evovled into the ability to bear child. Two women unless with the help of a donar can not bear there own child. The natural phyisics of it just aint right. It is a choice you make, not no gene changes or no birth defect it is a choice.

I think what he meant when he said that you lose certin rights is that you knew when you became gay that you would not be able to get the same benefits as a hetrosexual couple. You made that decision yourself. Roomates could go get married for the health insurance benefits(check out Chuck and Larry). I do not see the benefit to society in given them the right to wed. I see it more of a way for people to take advantage of the system.

Seriously?
What does all this blabber have to do with IOWA and their granting of gay marriages??
NOTHING!

At least try to stay on topic with the subject!

The Bible doesn't govern America or Iowa. We can thank Thomas Jefferson for that. Not Jesus.

Tell me something. Who were the first two people? Adam and Eve. Not Adam and Steve, not Eden and Eve. You can't reproduce as a homosexual couple, therefore, everyone can't be gay, therefore, homosexuality is not the way it was meant to be.

Why say my heart is black? I never said I hated gays, I don't have a thing against them, I'm just stating that I don't think homosexuality is the way it was meant to be.
