I get what you mean.
I agree with BC10. I believe the logo should stay the same because it has been the same logo for 20 years.
But, I also believe they should change it because the logo should represent the best player to ever play in the NBA in Michael Jordan.
I don't really know. I have mixed emotions about this topic.

I say change it to Charles Barkley.

I am a major Jordan fan, but if they change it won't it look to much like a NIKE endorsement ???If Jordan is the logo would it be him passing, shooting, dribbling, no, it would be him dunking. West is a good fit for the logo, but Jordan clearly brought more fans to the NBA table. I still think they should leave it be. Don't fix what ain't broken.

I like the thought of it, but then I like the logo with West. Im torn between the two. If they change it I wouldnt have a problume with it but if they kept it the same I would be okay with that too.

I have mixed feeling's about it, I'm a HUGE Jordan fan and he was the best to ever play the game, I guess as long as it doesn't look like the jump man that the Jordan Brand uses it would be ok . Here is a question. what if Lebron, or Kobe, win 7or 8 titles are they gonna change it to one of them in 20 or so years??? If so they should just leave it alone JMO........

The NBA should take a cue from the NFL who only made subtle changes last year to their logo. Whats on the NBA logo isnt going to bring 1 more fan to by a ticket or turn on the TV.
05-29-2009, 10:41 PM
This would be pretty awesome.

I am also a HUGE Jordan fan, but I don't think it would look right if they changed it. I agree it should symbolize the greatest player in history, but it isn't like Jerry West wasn't great. I just think that the logo has been the same for all these years, so leave it alone. Jordan's symbol is popular enough, but I agree with HAIL PIKEVILLE I don't think it would bring any new fans in or anything like that.

Agreed.

Leave it like it is IMO!
05-30-2009, 03:43 PM
it would definitely modernize it and it should be. they should make it into holograms. look at it one way it will be 'ol jerry and move a little bit and it 'ol jordan. or they could just make it to where jordan is dunking
05-30-2009, 04:22 PM
I dont think the current logo looks much like Jerry West :lmao:
Seriously though I want to see this happen. Jordan is the greatest player ever and I can't think of one good reason for him not to be on the logo.

I say change it....Change is allways a good thing...I mean the logo is fine as itis...but I think that it is time for a change....and yeah it should be changed to LEbron in the next twenty years...just for a change...I done agree with they must win 7 titles or whatever...that is a team victory so put the team on it then not one player...put the best player on it and RIGHT NOW that is MJ but it will change to LEBRON in about 25 years..

Michael Jordan is the greatest play to play the game, thus I would have no issue if the new Logo was in his likeness. But, IMO, it should be something else.
Though Jordan brought the NBA to the mainstream and made it into the mega-million dollar industry that it is, the deserving logo should symbolize the two men that SAVED the NBA from possible extinction.
Had it not been for Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, the NBA may not even exist today. Before Jordan came into the league, it was the Bird/Johnson era that resurrected the NBA. How many remember the 1970's NBA? Bird/Johnson started the epic battle that would easily turn into the greatest rivalry in Basketball history in 1979 when their two teams battled for the NCAA title. That same year, the NBA championship was played on CBS on tape delay. Literally the game did not air on television until after the 11:00 PM news went off. For overtime games in the NBA championship during the late 70's, CBS would actually cut some of the minutes out of the rebroadcast to ensure that they could keep the regularly scheduled program that followed the game on at it's scheduled time.
NBA players were making an average of $250,000 per year when Bird and Magic both signed multi-million dollar contracts during their rookie year. In their rookie year, NBA attendance rose by 300%. In their 2nd year in the league, it had risen 700% over the 1979 season. Three NBA franchises were prepared to fold after the 1979 season: New Orleans Jazz, San Antonio and Golden State. Those three teams sold out each game that Magic and Bird played at their arena's in 1980. The only sell-out for the entire year for San Antonio and Golden State.
The NBA added 4 new franchises during Bird and Johnson's first five seasons in the league, a tremendous accomplishment that was ready to bankrupt the season that Bird and Johnson played their very first contest against each other in 1979.
For me, make the new logo a tribute to the two men who truly need to be recognized as the National Basketball Association!

I dsagree with basically everything you just said. I believe they should leave it alone. It would be disrespectful to West, his family, and fans if they changed it. I agree Jordan is the best to ever play the game, but he is credited enough and has his logo, or name in enough places alrady. And finaly lebron will NEVER be the best player in the NBA! so get over yourself Ville and face reality. I also want to add tha if they were going to go on NBA championships won, wouldnt Karem be the leader for that position?

Yeah, they could have him walking by another player, refusing to shake his hand.
I like Lebron, but that was bad sportsmanship.
