Prestonsburg ran the ball at will tonight. Pikeville had no answer for P-burg's ground game. The Pikeville secondary did an excellent job as they took away the deep ball from P-burg. I think Prestonsburg only connected on two deep balls all night. P-burg running-back, Josh Craynon put on a clinic as he ran two in and made an excellent grab between two defenders for a TD receiving. The Blackcats defense just made plays all night. Alex Griffith, Austin McKinney and Cameron Tincher made some excellent plays tonight on defense. Tincher did return a punt that was blocked by McKinney for a touchdown. Pikeville's only score come on a kickoff return as Taylor Ratliff took it about 75 or 80 yards.
I will say this, this may be the softest Pikeville team I've ever seen.
Congrats Blackcats!

any stats on mr burchett?

This was the exact opposite of what i thought was going to happen. I doubted Pikeville's secondary and they put it on me. Their secondary stepped up huge tonight and really slowed Michael and his receivers down early. But as i warned everyone last week they have a running back too and his name is Josh Craynon. He stepped up huge tonight and it really helped open up the passing game late. Very good game by the Prestonsburg defense. Everyone on defense stepped up big. Good Game Blackcats

I don't know his stats, but he kinda had an off night tonight. Pikeville covered the P-burg receivers very well. Seemed like we ran some of the same routes over and over again. I'm pretty sure that Pikeville was running a cover 2 defense. It shut down all of the deep routes that our receivers kept running. Then P-burg started running screens and it did a lot of damage.
I'd say that Burchett had anywhere between 150-200 passing yards and 2 or 3 TDs. He ran the ball very well tonight for around 70 yards, maybe more.

its a off night for the kind of nights he has been having so far this season but just about any qb in this area would take those numbers.
i look foward to the game next week. sheldon clarks secondary looks good at times but falls asleep sometimes also! cant wait for the game!!

I want to give a shout out to the offensive line of Prestonsburg. People have been questioning them all year long, saying they are too small, not experienced, etc. Tonight, they ran what they wanted when they wanted against a much bigger Pikeville front 7. # 70 for Pikeville is huge! Our line averages 6'1 and about 231 pounds by my calculations, so size is not the issue. Our linemen are very, very quick and they have the intelligence to make adjustments on the fly. They have been coached up very well by the Prestonsburg staff, considering 2 starters had never played offensive line before (Griffith and Stovall). There is no quit in this team, and they have improved each week. This has rapidly become my favorite Blackcat team in some time, because of how far they have come, how few in numbers they are, and how quickly they have matured.

Congrats to the Blackcats on a big win.

He is a beast. He had a 70 yard kickoff almost through the uprights.
Amazing player

Funny thing about passing yds, the QB also gets credit for the run after the catch. I'll bet his stats were fine. It just doesn't seem that way after watching him pass downfield in previous games. Pikeville sold out against the pass, dropping 6-7 into coverage most of the night, so lot of yds. in the passing game came underneath on the WR screen and wingback toss in the flat.
It was good to see the Blackcats produce well with the running game, also. It WILL be needed down the road.

Great overall game once again for the Blackcats. McKinney and Craynon continue to impress running the ball and making big plays. Michael Burchett had a somewhat off night as others have mentioned, but still had some stats that any QB would be proud of. Burchett also had some nice runs and scrambles. Great games for Tincher and Jamerson as well.
Ratliff and Tackett are nice skilled players for Pikeville, but the Panthers lack experience and toughness.
Congrats Prestonsburg!

Those of you who don't remember, this is where Michael Burchett seen his first real quarterback action of his high school career when Bobby Hughes went down with any injury for Prestonsburg. Burchett helped win that game with poise, which was impressive for a young sophomore. He has now grown into a complete high school quarterback and just keeps getting better. Very impressive catch in the second half by Craynon for a touchdown. I enjoyed watching this game.
Congrats Blackcats.

Howard will get the Panthers back on track........It will take a little time....considering the condition that the program was in when he took the job. He may need to weed out a couple of his assistants....Laziness can be a disease.
