If Letcher Central comes out focused, they will roll. If they don't it could be a good game.

It sounds like Letcher fans think it will be easy.
I thought both teams lost a lot of good players from last year.

LCC easily. I think Larkey is getting ready to move on to greener pastures in Laurel Co. IMO.

What do you know that we don't know? I believe Coach will be hear at least 3 or 4 more years. He has told some 8th graders that he would be here until they graduate and I personally had him tell me that he would like to see how many of this years freshman are still playing for him in 4 years. Although I'm guess the new high school that is to be built would like to have him and no doubt he would like to be home, but I really don't see him taking a job that would be a definite rival with North and His Son!
As for the game this week I believe he will have our boys ready to regain their pride! I'm going with my Black Bears 21-20. Go Bears!!!!

Harlan Co. will not roll over but I'm still going to have to take The Cougars by 10.

I have heard that he will be at North with his SON! W. Muney is a little closer in the inner circles than most think, I may not agree with some of his opininons but he does most of the time know what is going on.
I also like LCC in this 1 by 14.

You have not seen the dedication he has to the county on all levels of football through grades school thru seniors. He is there to build them up and enjoy a great rivalry game with his son. He has no intentions of leaving Harlan County until they have acheived success.

Coach Larkey will get it done at Harlan County, just give him some time Bear fans, we here at Greenup County just got a new coach, new offense, defense, it just takes time to build your program, look what he done at Rock.

I don't believe anyone is down on Coach Larkey here, we are talking about a post that said Coach would be leaving for greener pastures. I am pretty confident that he will be here for a while, but I do know he has a new grandchild and his wife misses the family. No doubt he will build our program, I'm not making an excuse because we lost but we are still a new program learning new schemes and how to play with one another. If we can't get a big win that confidence will carry us a long way! Hail Larkey! Go Bears!!!!

LCC is very versatile and that is going to spell big trouble for Harlan Co. LCC does not have a huge standout player like some teams do but they play well as a team. Haraln Co. is down a great deal more than LCC so the outcome is a win. If the Blackbears get a good rythym they can make it a game. As far as LCC fans thinking it will be some kind of easy game thats not true. One comment does not speak for the rest of us on here. The Bears are going to have some good years ahead and i really am dreading it. As an LCC fan one of the proudest things for me is to have this great rivalry with Harlan Co. The whole program from the top to the bottom, fans included is immaculate.

I think most LCC fans are wary of Harlan County as most realize if LCC doesn't come into the game focused, it could be a close one. Many outside observers feel like it will be a blowout but they could be wrong. I am proud of the respect these two schools have given each other and I hope it develops into a healthy rivalry that remains competitive for a long time. Also, this Monday(Sept 28) at LCC field, the Cougars JV will be playing Bell County. It should be a good one to watch.

He and Coach Howard from LCC seem to be in similar situations, both with son's starting their own head coaching careers; Both at relatively new school's, building programs. I'm sure there will be rumors of both leaving to be with their family from here on out. I hope Coach Larkey stays with us for a long time. We've got a good thing going here with the coaching staff in place and good feeder programs. IMO he had a goal when he came to Harlan County and will not leave us till that has been achieved.
Back to the game...I hear that he and Coach Howard are great friends and I am sure he would love to beat his old buddy on our home field. If the bears come out ready to play, we can win this one. This game has all the makings of a great rivalry for year's to come.
I'm picking the Black Bears in a close one!

Harlan may be able to stay in it since the game is being played in Harlan. But Letcher will come away with the victory.

The rumor mill at LCC is this is Coach Howard's last year with head assistant coach Mike Whitaker taking over the helm next year.

That was the deal.Coach Whitaker was promised the job, that was the only way he would leave Powell County.Poor guy dont realize he is in Letcher County and is going to get his throat cut by the powers that be! I would be willing to bet he is never head coach at LCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
