Final Overtime

Knox Central 21

Rockcastle County 20

Congrats to KCC.
#3
Another awesome game tonight
#4
Congrats to Wayne Mills and the Panthers!!!
#5
Great game to watch. The panthers came out and played a solid defensive ball game for most of the game and really stepped it up. Rockcastle has a very solid team and this game could have went either way. Great job KC and goodluck the rest of the season.
#6
good win panthers

Rock has a great team. Big 50 (Derek Thacker) is not only a solid player - he is a class act. This game came down to special teams and a great tackle at the end. Jeff Canady unleashed a 60 yard punt that pinned Rock deep when it mattered. KC hit their extra points after Rock missed one. Great game all around. Congrats Panthers!

Great game by both teams.Rock has a great program and a real class act. I hated that someone had to loose a game like this one. Both teams should be proud of their teams.Good luck Rock on the rest of the year.

I am a Knox Central fan 100% and I would like to comend Rocks fans for coming down to support their team.In saying that I would like to ask the community at Knox County why we were not out to support our team. Our kids and coaches work their buts off all year and give it 100%day after day.I say to you Knox county get off the couch leave the festival and come out and support the kids .Let them know when you see them just how proud we are of them. So to all you arm chair qb's get out and support our team.We should be ashamed of our turn out last night. We have two more games and the playoffs lets all try to get out and follow these kids and cheer for them as hard as they play. Please dont tell me the tilter world or a dang funnel cake is more important than our youth.GET UP GET OUT AND SUPPORT OUR TEAM!

What do you all think about Rockcastle's Coach Scott Parkey going for two pointer and win and instead of kicking the ep and going into another overtime?:thatsfunn

thats what you do on the road when you dont have a consistent kicking game.btw that was one of the few times rowe was stopped on short yardage.

god this would have been a great one to watch..

If the kicking game was good, Rock would have hit the XP earlier in the game and the outcome might have been different. I give Scott Parkey the credit for trying the 2pt conversion, that was gutsy.

Knox Central's punter will WIN them some games this season. He is incredible. Knox Central and Rock might be the two most evenly matched teams in the state.

Rock's recievers better say some apologies to Bishop. I saw AT LEAST 3 drops in the later part of this game. 2 of them would have given Rockcastle first downs! You can't drop the ball in a game like that.

Not many flags in this game but Rock got 3 BIG penalties in the last drive of regulation. I know that KC and Rock each got at least one penalty for 5 men in the backfield? Is that the coaches fault, players fault, or a mis-communication? One of the penalties cancelled a HUGE play. I will not blame this game on them. Rock should have taken care of business earlier.

Several Rock fans were complaining about how the calls cost them he game right as we were leaving the field. I told them if we didn't drop passes, miss tackles, and put ourselves in a position for calls to hurt us, Rock wouldn't have to worry about the striped-shirts.

BTW...Each of them called me Saturday afternoon and told me I was right

Overall, great game by both teams. I wish Knox Central fans the best of luck. Rockets! Be ready to TRAVEL, come post-season play!

Nice summary. I thought Rock did the right thing going for 2. Wet sloppy night makes kicking tough; plus you are on the road. KC kicker kicks straight on and hit 38 extra points last year. He hit 6 in one half in the rain last year. That style of kicking is near obsolete but it is frankly far better in rainy wet conditions. The kicking foot works with the plant foot and both travel in the same direction whereas soccer style kickers use a motion where the kicking foot travels around the plant foot - far more likely to slide in sloppy conditions. KC hit all 3 exta points in the rain.

The final play of the game was a heart stopper. I knew 20 would get it for Rock but I was surpised he went left. The kid who made the initial hit for KC, Jake Asher, is a first year starter who is doing really well. The safety, Jamie Mills, read it quickly and made sure the play was over. Great effort by two young players!

I would've went for the 1 pointer instead of going for the 2 pointer

Give KC Credit they steped up when it mattered

How many seniors does rock have
#22
Rock didn't make an extra point all night. I believe it was pretty obvious they were going for two.

there is only about 5 who play. there was some seniors who just started to playing this year, but they dont play unless the game is allready over. i think all together there is 11.

As RockSolid69 already noted, Rock has a large number of seniors but the REALLY big losses at the end of this season will be Bishop, Dillingham, Todd, Abney, Derrick Thacker and Matt Bullens.

Some positives are that Clark Rowe, B.B. Bradley, two starters on the offensive line and others are Sophomores. John L Saylor is a Junior. Rock has a lot of talent in the 9th grade as well. I look for the only BIG loss from this class will be the experience of Dustin Bishop at QB. I realize that Rock will be without their two leading recievers, but they had that same problem at the beginning of this season.

This sounds like another classic from Rockcastle County, the last overtime game was back in 2004 when Rockcastle lost in double overtime to Ashland Blazer at Ashland in the Class AAA Sweet Sixteen (second round)

Knox's Punter, Canady, seems like a very talented freshmen, I played against him in middle school and he was one heck of a running back, I bet he gets some major PT if not starts on the varisty, can anyone awnser that?

Yes-he starts on Offense as Slot Rec.- starts on Defense as the left corner back--he is the return man on punts..he is on kickoff and is on kickoff ret.---is also the punter---I was told he is second on the team in all-purpose yards--not to bad for a freshman...

Type his name on rivals.com he is rated #1 freshman Wr in Ky and in the top 4 nation wide...

Great job Panthers and to Coach Mills and his staff after the Bell Soddy Daisey game we was standing at midfield listening to coach hilton give his post game speech to the players we was getting ready to go because it was sprinkling of rain and cold but before we left the field he said oh yea guys rock fell to knox in overtime and that was the loudest i had ever heard 100 people start cheering
