Did you ever ask yourself that what might be gained would being able to use stuff against an American citizen, the same as any other terrorists?

Obama is done, he has nothing to gain. He already won his last term.

As much as I want to see this guy fry for what he did, it is even more important not to set bad precedents by suspending constitutional rights for American citizens. In fact, I would favor a constitutional amendment that would limit the rights of non-American citizens accused of crimes.

The day that Tsarnaev became an American citizen is the day that he should have begun enjoying the same constitutional rights as you or me, and not one day sooner. He was a refugee, that became an American citizen. A refugee isn't an illegal. Actually, his dad was allowed refugee status, and this kid had been here since 8 years old. I agree with not being allowed to step foot in this country, if we had only known, but we didn't. America takes in refugees, and some of them bite us in the ass. I have no problem with killing him, if he is convicted. But, like any other citizen, he will have to get a fair trial. Refugees have come into America since the beginning of this country.

Of course not but most immigrants who migrate to this country who do commit terrorist acts are Muslims.

Out of more than 5 billion potential immigrants to this country, why should we risk the lives of American citizens by not minimizing the risks posed by immigrants who follow a religion that makes them so susceptible to radicalization? The U.S. Constitution's goal was to give every American citizen a fair shot at liberty, success, and happiness. It is not in our national interest to give every inhabitant on the planet an equal shot at American citizenship.

We agree. I respect peaceful religious people of all faiths and the majority of my neighbors are Hindus. My car pool partner is from a small city near Hyderbad, where there was a bomb blast a few weeks ago. Last week, a bomb was set off in Bangalore, which is home to two of my other coworkers. A member of the Indian Mujahideen was arrested in the Hyderbad bombing and Muslims are suspects in the Bangalore bombing as well.

Until I moved here, I never realized how many Muslims still live in India. Over 13 percent of India's population are Muslims and the country shares long borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. In every country where Muslims live in large numbers, terrorism has been a problem. We should not be accepting Muslim refugees from anywhere, IMO. Let the Muslim theocracies take them in.

"Native" Americans were here when Columbus stumbled upon what he believed was India, but their ancestors were also immigrants to this land. Immigration is not our problem. Our problem is with American born politicians who have sold us out and are allowing uncontrolled immigration. In fact, it is even worse than that - Washington fat cats are allowing the uncontrolled immigration of millions of poor, largely uneducated Mexicans and Muslims who contribute less to this country than they contribute.

OTOH, Washington makes it very difficult for people who have much to offer to immigrate here, because they are treated worse than illegal aliens. Foreign nationals who are here legally and follow all of our laws are faced with an overwhelming amount of red tape. If they miss a deadline for filing a form, they risk moving to the back of the line or simply getting themselves deported. Meanwhile, our own politicians are plotting to grant citizenship to people who come to this country with no intention of following our laws, learning English, or blending into our society.

I remember hearing friends and family disparaging the intellectual abilities of Asians by claiming that while they had become pretty good at copying American technology, they were not creative enough to come up with original designs. That was never true and the truth is, this country is being left in the dust technologically and we have become too dependent on foreign technology to remain competitive in a global economy unless the trend stops soon.

This country should be unapologetically recruiting the best and brightest citizens in the world to immigrate here permanently. That is the kind of policy that ensured our ancestors that this country would harness atomic energy before our enemies would do so.

I would love to blame the immigration mess on liberal Democrats, but Republicans like Bush, McCain, and Lindsey Graham have been instrumental in creating the current situation. I would trade all of the backstabbing politicians who had a hand in developing our current immigration policies for a single, intelligent, honest English-speaking immigrant who loves this country and wants to make positive contributions to our future.

Good point. Not all of our ancestors were immigrants to this country.

Native Americans were not granted U.S. citizenship until 1924. I realized that the immigrant status of Native Americans' ancestors to this country is somewhat fuzzy, so I chose to describe them as immigrants to this "land" rather than to this "country."

In this country we have the right to believe in what ever we want. You can worship a dog if you wish, its not my problem, and its never been about race or religion, there are several good muslim people in the world, and in this country, and i have no problem with that.
But, its a scary world, lets take care of our own and quit worrying about new immigrants. They bring drugs and guns from the south, terrorist from the middle east, and spys from the far east.

Yeah because administration officials made sure of it. Along with cancelled white house tours, laid off air traffic controllers and anybody else they think will cause the public to 'feel' the pinch.

This is about making republicans look bad and further demonstrates that democrats are incapable of making any actual cuts. By their logic, making cuts would be something like eliminating the premium sound systems from the next fleet of government vehicles they order. Department heads in areas that are affected by the sequester, have come on the news decrying administration maneuvering which forces them to make cuts in ways they feel are designed to cause folks as much discomfort as possible. In fact stating that their are a number of ways to make cuts that won't cause problems. But, where would this episode of the Obama soap opera be if we did that, right?

Last week’s revelations into the financial workings of one of the county’s volunteer fire departments may not be the last.

According to the the state auditor’s office, a preliminary review of Allen Volunteer Fire Department is being conducted, after complaints were made with regard to that department’s spending.

Irregular spending came to light last March, when the findings in several financial reports were scrutinized from within the department and without.

Some of the more notable spending included $5,000 on water heater repair, $1,500 for replacing light bulbs, and nearly $20,000 on concrete work. Much of the work performed was attributed to one contractor, Lawson Contracting.

All total, The Times received copies of 13 invoices dated Feb. 2 to March 16, totaling $175,267.94. The invoices were all tied to Lawson Contracting Inc., a corporation located in Garrett and owned by Darren Lawson.

Since then, both Fire Chief Roy Compton and Assistant Chief Larry Castle have resigned, and a new tax board has been created.

GARRETT — With huge financial losses discovered in a recent state auditor’s report, the chief of Garrett Volunteer Fire Department isn’t sure how long it will take to recover. But he said the department will.

In a report that was issued this week, the Kentucky State Auditor’s office found over $123,000 is misused funds from the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department, much of which has been laid at the feet of former assistant chief/treasurer Terry Triplett.

“Shocked,” was the word Bruce Scott, Chief of GVFD, used to describe his reaction to the audit’s findings. “We’d only had two or three meetings before Terry joined up,” said Scott. “He’d been here a little over 32 years.”

According to Scott, over the years Triplett had really helped the department. “I’ll be the first in line to say that,” said Scott.

Scott says there was nothing that he saw personally that would have tipped him off to Triplett’s alleged actions. “It’s really something. The shame that he’s brought on his family and on this department,” said Scott.

Scott says that when he talks to people in the community about the audit, most of them express the most disillusion about the amount of pornography that was found on Triplett’s department issued computer.

State auditors found 890 pornographic videos and 125 graphic images on both his computer and external hard-drives.

“The pornography has really blown their minds,” says Scott. “You know someone this long, and then see something of that magnitude, and you just say, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe it.’”

Despite the black eye and the financial setback, Scott says his department is already moving on.

“We’ll recover. We’ll get through it. It’s going to be a long slow process, but we’re not going to let one person destroy what we’ve worked for 32 years.”

The GVFD has served the southern portion of the Floyd County well over 32 years, and features the counties only High Angle Response Team. Scott says being a volunteer firefighter isn’t always easy, but he says the rewards are worth it.

“Our payday is a ‘thank you.’”

Well, I'm happy to see that we agree on that. You're oh so right, democrats will never agree to any spending cuts, that's acid sure.

Republicans do in fact like the sequester. Like the joke about the moonshiners goes, when each of them held a gun on the other and ordered him to take a drink, LOL. Because as you so rightly point out, democrats were in lockstep in their opposition to any spending cuts, (the true reason why Harry Reid won't allow a budget bill to come on the floor BTW), and at the time, the sequester was the only way to get any cuts. In fact, to this day it has remained the only way to get any cuts, albeit amid the democrat's daily howling about them. Every body from Barney Frank to Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer to the president himself, politicize the sequester cuts every day and use each opportunity to slam republicans about it.

I look for republicans to take democrats on more often frankly. Senator Grassley and Chuck Schumer's exchange in hearing was a good example of that. Schumer openly accused republicans and Grassley in particular of using the Boston Marathon Bombings as a method to derail immigration reform for possibly years into the future. All Grassley was saying was that there had been no appreciable floor debate with regard to the 900 page document. Possibly with adequate debate, we can avoid the same sort of cul-de-sac, of which we are beset, as the result of rushing and ramming ObamaCare through.

No, the sequester was Obama's idea, Carney and others have admitted that after being cornered with their own video taped comments on the matter. He rolled the dice, wrongly assuming that he could break the will of republicans yet again. Who, to their credit, stuck to their guns and called his hand. So, to his chagrin, Obama was the unwitting catalyst for the spending cuts achieved to date. Will we see any more? Well, let's see if he has any more brain storms like the sequester.

Remember, democrats headed up by Keynesian convert Barack, base their arguments that our country can continue to spend at unthinkable levels without any real harm to our economy on an unproven economic opinion. Their line of thought (Keynesian economics) has been tried and has already failed in times past both here and abroad.

The glory days of Reagan, George H W Bush and Clinton, are without question attributable to the fiscally conservative principles of the era. Nobody can deny that. Liberals hate it so bad things worked so well for America during that time they are determined to prove their ideas are better. And brother are we suffering for that contempt now. The tighter things get the more they double down. Like I said I was there and I saw it all happen. We had more than enough money in those days. Hence, we didn't need the rationalizations from the left justifying an anemic defense budget and a mindless open door immigration policy in the face of increased threat of terror, because supposedly the world is a safer place today. In fact, the world is a pressure cooker and will explode as some point.
