I'm looking into some of these comments because it appears that if you have to make two accounts to talk to yourself that you have an agenda that is off topic. So, no off topic comments please. If it's not about the candidate for North Laurel Football coach, then it doesn't belong here.

Vanderpool still a lead candidate? I know western hills should have a decent team this year and it could set him up for a better job down the road if he’s able to win a first road playoff game this year.

I like him. Only thing I know is that he is well liked locally. I think he is a great defensive coordinator and Im sure is a dandy head coach in the making. If North could steal him away I'm sure he would do a good job.

I just heard the mailbox is full at North Laurel people applying for this job.  I see
them having a great bunch of young players to build on from what I witnessed this
past season and anyone in for a change & wanting to build a good program quickly
would be wise to apply at NL for this position!    13th Region had several big awards
individually this past season that went to North Laurel.

I have no doubt that plenty of candidates have and will put in. I agree, plenty of talent and a good foundation to build off of.

There are several Asst Coaches at NL that could step into the head coach position
and never miss a beat & have a great team. They have been there for awhile and
know the kids and the biggest factor is the KIDS like them. So whoever made the
remark that no one left there without a particular hire, hasn't been paying attention
for the past good while out there at all.

This sucks suck late in the season to be searching for a coach.  I agree, grab one of them assistants and keep rollin.

***They are moving right along at North from what I am hearing, they have their weight
lifting program going strong, Quarterback camp going on, so they haven't folded up and
quit - the Asst Coaches out there are in lockstep with keeping the program active...
and the boys are busy getting in shape and moving forward for the upcoming season,
is what those involved have shared with me.

They have had 4 different head coaches in 4 years.
I’ll take and buy you 2 steak dinners at your choosing if you can name the 4 head coaches that North has had in the last 4 years.

How about 5 in 6 years

Richard Boothe
Chris Fultz

I’m not sure where you’ve came up with all these names at but Chris Larkey was the North Laurel coach for well over a decade before he went back to Rockastle Co and was replaced at North by Jason Chappel…..

Discussion was about MS coaches, not HS.

No, this thread is about North Laurel Head Coach opening. I was talking about North Laurel head coach. I’m sure not many programs keep the same  coaches long in middle school. But I’ll show you what kind of a guy I am. You come down South 75 to the London area. I’ll buy you and me a steak and we talk football.
What a good guy. Where you taking him? Shilohs? Roadhouse? The Depot?

You won't find a better guy than Mr.. Bull.

I love steak. We eat at all of them from time to time. Cheddars is good too and believe it or not Old Town Grill ain’t bad. But I like the biggest steak at Texas Roadhouse has. I’m a big eater. More unsweetened tea for me!  Smile

I'll have that, but want my tea slightly sweet Smile

I liked to watch him play. He was a hard nosed ball player.

I’m hearing Simon Vanderpool is the favorite (coach at western hills/former NL coach) and he is going to clean house and bring in some of his guys

Great hire IMO
I don't know this coach, but every time I talk to someone from North, his name is the
1st one to come up?   I don't know if that has any meaning or not.   Also heard that
they had a lot of applicants from out of state which I found interesting.   Guess we'll know
when we know.

I'm glad Mr. Chappell is coaching the Whitley County Middle Schoolers now. He is a great addition to help coach the youth, but I wonder where the other nice gentleman that was coaching them went to. It will be interesting to see who North Laurel hires.

The young man is a former stand-out player at North Laurel, and has
been asst. coach at Rock Castle since Larkey left North, my contacts tell
me that he will be able to step in at North and never miss a beat.
He played for and with some of the assistant coaches that are still there.
It will be interesting to see where a young 1st time head coach can take a
team.  He knows all the players!   If this is who the hire is.

Political hire call it what you want….it just sent NL behind the sticks chasing SL, Laurel Co Administration is the worst I’ve ever seen and I’m from Corbin….

Seeing as your from Corbin you must not pay any attention to Laurel County football. North Laurel will beat South Laurel as badly as they want next year, you can bet the bank on that.
