Mercer County 31 Boyle County 30
#31
Backup running back #30 Aidan Hoskins is nearly as good as Burke #20 so I feel comfortable at the running back position for next year.
#32
No frosh starters. Bunch of sophs.
#33
My bad on the freshman starters.I think Hoskins is a better back than Burke.Seph is a hard runner but very slow out of the backfield.Hoskins has alot more speed.

Jack Lambert Wrote:The problem i had with the penaltys was that the 2 pass interfearance calls on Boyle in the endzones were both bad calls both were on 4th down plays that led to 10 points for mercer and mercer had a 54 yard drive for a td 45 of those yards were penaltys against Boyle one of those came on a 4th down play that kept the drive alive it was because a Boyle player said something after the play was over. Coach French questoned the call and old white hat gave him a 15 yard penalty to add insult to injury.after a score Mercer tryed an onside kick Boyle recoverd at the 48 and after a lengthy discussion mercer got to rekick and Boyle lost 28 yards in field posistion.its been a very long time since i've seen a game called so one sided and i hope i never see one like it again.

I don't remember the other one, but one of the pass interference calls in the endzone was on the play where they pump faked on the short throw to the sideline and the receiver released to the endzone. The Boyle DB was burned and he basically ran over the receiver right before the ball got there trying to get back in position.

Why would Boyle County call Coach John Hodge? They have Larry French who is legend and proven winner. Hodge is still young and doing really good, there is no doubt that he will be contacted when French is done but until then, please don't try not to speculate on anything. The Rebels have one of the best!

That play happened right in front of us and i saw it as incidental contact as the ball was under thrown.but no two people see things the same all the time.

He is a winner but you and I both know when you are not the best in the tri area you will get the damn boot and Boyle Co was down this year. Don't take it to heart man it was just my speculation!! But how in the hell do yo lose to Mercer Co. ?

Boyle player never looked back to make a play on the ball so it can't be incidental.

IMO The Boyle player did turn about the time the ball arived and actually had a better shot at catching the ball than the reciever because the ball as underthrown even if there was no contact the ball wouldn't have been caught by the reciever.

Remember in HS catchability has no bearing.

Just in case anyone wanted to know Mercer starts 2 freshman that were key play makers in the game Friday and 1 that subbed a lot. And our starting quarterback, Davis, was out for most of the season. We will get a healthy QB back next season. Return most of our defense, although Goodman is a key loss there. Titans are young in key positions as well. Also Titans were without 3 starters for the last several games...our QB and Sims at receiver and a starting lineman that's just a sophomore....If the Titans continue to buy in and continue the great work in the weight room good things will happen.

Boyle County was down this year? Based on what? The loss to Mercer County? Boyle County was 11-0 and rated #2 before losing a heart breaker to Mercer County. The Titans aren't exactly a bad team. They got better as the season progressed. Sometimes the ball bounces a teams way, that and the help of a few whistles will kill a young team but this team was not down. BTW, I still believe Boyle County is the better team in the Tri-County area even if the score says otherwise. None of this matters because Boyle County has a great coach in Larry French so please enjoy Coach Hodge while you can. He is a great coach and an even better person. Let's just try to leave it at that.

Coach Hodge would be crazy to leave his current situation to face this district and Region. And he has very very close connections to Mercer as well. Makes things interesting

He has close connections with Boyle County and Garrard County. IF he ever left, it would be for the other BoCo known as Boyle County.

I found out the officals were from the corbin area,Boyle's PA announcer told me at lunch that one of back judges got smart with him before the game started when he was suppose to have brought him the penalty sheet along with thier names all he brought was thier names written on paper and when he asked for the penalty sheet the back judge told him they didn't need one that the coaches knew the signals and that he was rude about it.
