I do understand that I am in the minority though.
I believe the biggest reason we kicked it was because we have a senior kicker this year who is actually pretty good.
He's flown under the radar over his career, but he's usually money. I think Black just wanted to let him get out there and give him a chance to show off his kicking game.

I have seen a lot of high school football in my time, and Rockcastle County, as far as a sheer power running offense, they rate at very close to the top, IMO.
Your Clark Rowe is a great running back, and the other backs are no slouches.
But let us not forget the MEN upfront, for they open some huge holes. I was impressed by their ability to block.
Good luck Rockcastle County for a super season.

I disagree!!!!!!!!!!!!! It means that you think a field goal may be your best shot at avoiding a shut out, which I think you complained about to start with.
It also means that you're not teaching the kids to give up and get on the bus without trying to put up some points like you apparently think they should do when they get behind.
I live very far from Whitley Co. and have no connection whatsoever to the school or team, but your notion that another team should just serve you up a shutout with trying to score is ridiculous. EARN IT or don't whine if you don't get it!

TYPO: "without trying to score"

They have a starting QB, who is a sophomore and just way to inexperienced to know what to do against the defenses weve played so far and his backup is a freshman, who splits time with him.
Once again, to much youth.

I am not saying to give a shutout to the other team, but with the time they had, why not go for it and try to score the TD? I would have had no problem if they scored a TD.
RIUTG, had a very good point when he said they have a very good kicker and they were wanting to showcase him, that is fine, I didn't know that before. It is hard for mountain players to get any serious collegiate looks, so I have no problem with it, for that reason.

You know RUITG, our quarterback is a first year starting sophmore as well, but, he is protected by a line that has experience with two seniors(one four year starter), two juniors (center first year starting) and one sophmore (who started his freshman year). At least this year he should get some protection while learning. Whitley did have a big line with some impressive looking boys on it.

Papagrit where will our talent fall off the hardest next year will it be line or skill players?

Yea, we got some decent size, were not real big but in our offensive line is our only experiences unit on the whole team. Give them a year to mature with these young backs and watch out.

I really don't know. It will be a mixture of all things that each of these seniors bring to the table. This group is hard to figure out, they have all of the talent in the world and can play great together when they want to. Or, they can play with so much apathy and sluggishness that you just want to jump up and down and scream at them to try to get a fire under them. They should have competed better last year than they did. They had the talent then to win more games. In games like the Danville game, the Pulaski game and the Lawrence game, they couldn't put their thumb up their butts if they used both hands to do it. They didn't seem to care either as many would be laughing and joking after the games. This year they seem to be more on a mission. They still joke and have fun, but, on game day there is an intenseness that wasn't there last year. You can see it in their eyes that they are not taking anyone or anything for granted.
They will, of course, miss Clark Rowe running the ball the most I think. The Thomason boys and that closing speed and aggression on defense will be hard to replace. You have Luna and Reams who have stepped up when given the chance to carry the ball this year and this has rested Clark and given the team more weapons offensively. The intensity of Brock when given the chance to play on defense has been impressive this year. Perhaps he should get to play more defensive line with that big heart. Bradley has had to step up on defense to replace J. Saylor this year and he has done a fine job securing the center of that defense at linebacker. Adams has filled one of the gaps at guard left by Thacker and I'm so glad that he came back out to play his senior year after tearing his ACL as a junior. Ben Lake, his level head when others lose their heads at times and his going both ways on offense and defense will definitely be missed on the line. Childress, who came back from a shoulder injury last year has played a great safety on defense and has been doing a very good job punting the ball for the Rockets. Causey, who might play defensive line or as a defensive back with his speed and desire to cream someone is another loss you might not think about. He along with a couple of the other mentioned seniors go about their business so quietly that you wouldn't think about missing them, until they aren't there and there is a gaping hole where they left.
I really couldn't tell you who will be missed most, because this group of boys, whether playing good football or playing like they did in the above mentioned games, play as a unit. Each one has his role on the team and can elevate the team or drag the team down if they aren't in the game mentally.
The cupboard won't be bare next year as I could go on forever about some of the upcoming players. Just not as full as it is this year.

I really think so. These first two games were against some very experienced teams. Give them time. I'm glad we played Whitley early this year instead of the last game. It played to our advantage. Last game this year for us is against Montgomery County at Mt. Sterling where we used to play Whitley last.

It was a good move in Rocks favor to do that.
