Highlands @ Simon Kenton

I watched Highland freshman team. Not impressed. Maybe 3 or 4 good players

Some of the teams are improved to the point they are not hemorrhaging athletes to the independents and privates like before. The publics have caught up, and HHS is down some, but mostly a good or better than average 6a team is going to win this matchup more than not. Football has improved throughout NKY.

Highlands isn't working hard enough to get the wins. Other teams are outworking them at this point

Highlands hasn’t won state every year. We all know that. They’ve been down before. But this down???. They do have athletes. Since 2015 to now. They have lost about 17 games. So in comparison to show how bad it is. How many games did Highlands loose in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s 2000 to 2010? Did all those years equal 17 lost in such a short period. What decade did they get beat 17 times???? I don’t have the answer. But we are comparing 10 years to 2 1/2 years.

You seem to be one of those that continue to believe HHS only wins because they are loaded with kids from outside Ft. Thomas. Yes they have had some kids from outside, but large majority have always been Ft. Thomas raised kids. HHS talent is just down right now. And yes, it is hard to replace a legend at the coaching spot, but I do not believe Dale would do much better over the last tow years. I do think over last several years at HHS you are seeing boys go out for other sports a lot more than they used to (soccer, baseball, track) and not focus year round on football or even play football. If you are good at soccer, basketball, baseball, why not put all effort in for those sports since football is down.

I love all the "what's wrong at Highlands" posts, and the fact that the large majority of responses to those posts come from people that never went to Highlands or have zero affiliation with Highlands (@bo67). If you (@bo67) weren't so continually wrong about how you think Highlands works, you might have me fooled as to being a Highlands fan with how much you like to talk about them. I get it, Cooper is your school and no body cares about them so you have to talk about a school that is actually significant. You will probably respond to this by claiming how great Cooper is for beating Highlands in the two previous years, which is a weird thing to be proud of considering how bad you say Highlands is.

The fact that Highlands, even after having down years recently, lives in so many heads rent free is a testament to the significance of their program. No one asks whats wrong with the numerous other bad teams throughout the state. No other team has people, completely unaffiliated with their program, coming onto prediction threads and trying to stir the pot. Some of you can't get through your day without think about Highlands, and I LOVE that I contributed to that.

Is Highlands down right now? Absolutely. No one could argue otherwise. Will they eventually be back to their normal form? Cant say for sure, but I would bet on it if I had to. Face it, you can't talk about Kentucky high school football, and not talk about Highlands even in their down years.

Let you in on a little secret, Bo67 knows and loves Highlands football. His issue is with the current head coach, nothing more nothing less.

I do agree with you that Highlands is relevant each and every year in football whether good, bad or indifferent.

Thank you Mantax for letting a certain person know that I DO know Highlands football. I went to Highlands. I even coached there. My grandson played for Cooper. Mantax is correct. I have issues with the coach. Mantax doesn’t always agree with me and that’s ok. And I respect his words. But we do agree on several issues.

My days of coaching at Highlands was short lived. I would left the next year anyway since my grandson decided to stay at Cooper. I would have not coached under the present coach anyway. By the way. I think my 6’7”—285 lb grandson could have played there.

They aren't down just not working hard enough to win.

You seem to not remember the actual impact players on each of the highlands teams. Dale mueller had a knack for enrolling star players from various areas while maintaining the perception that they were from fort Thomas. No big deal. Just don't act like it didn't happen. The grunts only assist the super stars in winning a state championship.

Lets go back. As an example. You referring to a time a certain player by the name of Mike Mitchell started all the talking. By the way. They don’t have him. They do not win that game. And let us not forget “Let’s burn a building at UK Mr Justin Frisk”. Oops sorry. That was Bret Hamlin
#46
It started waaaaay before mike Mitchell
#47
Oh that was just an example. You want names from mid 60s?
