4. Short term pain management.
Find a clinic to get steroid injections immediately. 24 hour relief for me. Most Drs don't like injections anymore. Find a clinic that will inject straight into the joint, not in the buttocks.
That is fastest relief. 2nd best option is 25mg methylprednisolone tablets. They come in 21 pill box and taken in declining numbers over several days. Don't do that take 3, 2, 2 doses for 3 days.

4b. Find pain medication that works. For me it's ibuprofen. Keep trying something every day until something works. OTC first then scrip. Helps to know a dealer lol. For me a lifelong friend was (now retired lol). I was lucky and OTC worked for me.

Believe me I know knee pain. When it's bad you can't process any thought other than pain. And no finding a position that makes it go away. Tears in eyes, cursing the world, the whole deal.
The good news is there is 90% chance of quick relief and 100% chance of long term relief. Just have to stay on it daily.
Not giving advice just telling you what worked for me. I almost never have knee pain now and if I feel it setting in I go for the steroid tablets (methylprednisolone) and they knock it out before it gets bad. I haven't used my crutches in years.

This might seem a little harsh to go this route but desperate pain calls for desperate measures. Hope this helps and good luck.

Almost forgot if you haven't got medical prognosis in the past, get blood checked for uric acid to see if it's gout and not osteo or rheumatoid. Same short term pain fix but different long term treatment.

Well, I went to Walmart and bought some turmeric like granny and jet suggested. We'll start there and see what happens.

Sadly, my old doctor passed away a couple years ago. My new doctor won't do injections and that's how I found out about 21 pill method. It works fine but takes 2-3 days. Back when I got injections I would need one 2-3 times a year and usually within 24 hours I was pain free. Haven't had an injection in about 3 years but I know a clinic to go to if I ever get the crippling pain again and regular meds won't knock it out.
