Mayfield @ Caldwell County 10/30/15
#31
It should be a good game, can't wait for Friday night, as for giving up 27 points to Paducah without their starting quarterback, I don't think that was the case, not sure but they scored most of their points with him in and 14 of the points given up to North Hardin was because Caldwell had a 5 foot 9 corner in the game trying to stop a 6 foot 4 receiver on the fade to the corner of the end zone, Caldwell was comfortably ahead both times that happened, so much for resting Dee Cain, if the score had been closer I'm sure he would have been defending that guy and it didn't happen when he was in there, those are the kind of things that you don't see when reading about the game, that's why comparing scores and not knowing the details of the game is not always a good indication of what went on. Looking forward to a great game!

Paducah scored 14 points in the 1st quarter with there qb in then went stagnant without him until they finally scored again twice in the 4th quarter. He got hurt 8 seconds into the 2nd quarter. Yall played Tilghman without there starting qb for almost 3 entire quarters, and still gave up 27. Yes half there points was with him in, but how many do you think they would have scored if he played the whole game. Your starting D was in for all 27 points as it was a 7 point game under 2 minutes to go. Those are the facts, so apparently you are the one that doesn't know the details of the whole game. As for North Hardin excuses to give up 35. It was on your starting D as well. So can Mayfield use the 5ft 9 excuse against 6ft 4 receievers in the game against Caldwell? Yall have a height advantage on them so should that taint any poins yall get passing?

Caldwell won the Tilghman game fair and square. Would it have been different if the QB had played the entire game? Possibly. He put up about 90 yards passing in the 1st quarter and he was driving for another score when he was injured. But Cain was also out part of the game, and a subsequent game, and Caldwell had others step up to fill in. Caldwell has multiple weapons. But here's a fact: Mayfield is about equal to any of the top 4-5 AAA teams in the state. If Caldwell can't put them away, then Caldwell faces an uncertain future.

I was only pointing out some facts he left out, but Cain went out with a minute 50 left in the game your qb went out 8 seconds into the 2nd quarter. Not the same thing. Caldwell might very well beat Tilghman in a rematch, but the Caldwell fans I know think they will have no problems with them. I think its dangerous for them to think that way about Tilghman. Could Caldwell beat Mayfield possibly, but id be surprised if they beat Mayfield handily. On the other hand I wouldn't be that surprised if Mayfield beat Caldwell comfortably as ive seen a lot of highly touted Caldwell teams fail the test against Mayfield, but I have to think it will be a pretty close game either way. IMO if Caldwell doesn't win by 20 they have no shot in 3a this year.

It wouldn't be that big of a surprise.

Wow, sounds like killbilly was there photographic memory and all, either way Tilghman lost and yes North Hardin scored 35 points, I'm not most fans, I know Tilghman would give Caldwell all they want and could easily win in a rematch. Nobody is ever going to beat Mayfield handily, they are just to good, and they could beat Caldwell easy, on the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if Caldwell beat Mayfield. I've seen Caldwell beat some highly touted Mayfield teams the last several years. As for the comment If Caldwell doesn't beat Mayfield by 20, they don't have a chance in 3a this year, means you think Caldwell is pretty good too. I told you in an earlier post about the Caldwell vs Mayfield game, from a Tiger stand point, it's hard to beat that great tradition Mayfield has, it does have an effect on the other team when the two teams have a long history of playing each other.

No I wasn't there. I do enjoy giving Caldwell fans crap though. Believe me I get a lot in return. I wasn't saying Caldwell needs to win by 20 because I think they are that good I just think 3a is loaded, especially on the west side, but I could be wrong, and good news is they would be home in the tough 3rd, and 4th rounds so maybe they will prove me wrong. Im sure you have heard about the curse of the goat, and the curse of the bambino, now Caldwell will suffer from the curse of the unpaid steak.

Not so sure it would take beating us by 20 in order to play with the top of 3a.. I don't think any of the top 3 teams are 20 pts better than MF. With that said I'm sure u were just exaggerating a lil..as close as Caldwell is I don't suspect the bus ride or loud crowd affects the cards but home field could help tigers with much needed confidence. .

Unpaid steak??

A bet was made last season before the first game of the season was even played by 2 coworkers. 1 is a Caldwell fan the other a guy from Lyon County that went out on a limb and bet him that Mayfield would win. The bet was the biggest best steak at the Longhorn steakhouse in Clarksville Tn. Way over a year later the Caldwell fan refuses to make payment so I said Caldwell will never beat Mayfield again till that debt is paid.
#44
Unpaid steak is a serious, serious crime.
Someone else from Caldwell should step up and pay the debt or else face the wrath of bad juju for a long time!

IMO, there are a lot of factors on who wins this game, weather, penalties and mistakes, throw out what happened last year, this year, the year before and next year lol I cannot give offer a opinion on who wins this one but the less penalized team will win, I think both teams are even and hope they both make deep runs in the playoffs.
#46
Oh theres a difference and it will be on the defensive side of the ball.
#47
Caldwell has won 3 of the last nine games with Mayfield. Not what I would call a trend.
#48
How can anyone suggest that these two teams are pretty much equal? As someone pointed out, Mayfield is 6-3 in the last 9 games. One of those wins for CC was in a torrential downpour the like of which I have never seen another game played in. If not, Xavier Shelton probably would have scorched them for 3 touchdowns himself. One of those 3 wins was also in one of the 2 worst seasons that I have seen in the past 20 years for Mayfield. If not for those 2 wins, people would think of this game the same way they think about Mayfield vs Graves County.
#49
Come on man, isn't 6 and 3 against Caldwell the last nine games enough for you, give the other team credit some time, Caldwell had to play in the rain too!

Actually, I can not think of any team that has managed to do that well in the last 9 meetings other than Danville
#51
You know I do support CC a lot when not playing Mayfield. I just couldn't get past the even comment. I hope we have a good time. I like playing there, they have a nice facility. It's actually my wife's favorite field to visit with the way it's set up.
#52
I can't wait for a good game... finally out of this district play .. just two more easy games..I hope bright coming back pulls this team back together
#53
To clarify the even in my post, I meant that they are evenly matched this year it has nothing to do with their records among each other
#54
Well, come to Princeton Friday and see how evenly matched they are.
#55
So it seems Caldwell has replaced Murray as the team Mayfield loves to hate-
#56
It's a real shame they could not make this a double header with the Tilghman Murray game somewhere Saturday night (like at Christian County) and let fans from all four schools see both games. That would be an over the top night of high school football.
#57
They do seem a little obsessive with the Tigers.

Double header I was thinking a triple header with McCracken/Bowling Green playing as well. I wish it was on a Saturday so I could go.

I think I will be making your pregame meal so more than likely I cannot attend@mysonis55

It blows me away that one of these games wasn't scheduled on a sat
