I think the defense and special teams will be the main factor in this game. Both are solid, but I think LC wins by 3.

Big Ray Horton may disagree with that statement-- he is THE defensive difference maker!!

As is his right. Both teams are good. Would not be shocked if either team won. I will be shocked if it is a wide margin.

I think Belfry will have to come with their best defensive game of the year. But don't see the Pirates having any problem moving the ball on offense. GO PIRATES.....bring home the 3peat !!!

I think you see a well planned Typical Coach Haywwod style Game plan. Long Drives keeping LC's offense off the field for the big play. I don't think LC has the size on the Dline or the linebackers to stop out Offense

Lexington Catholic had a 7-1 look going at times against Johnson Central. I've seen some crazy things, folks. Lol.

I heard in a previous post that belfry has the best running back in 3A. IMO belfry had the best offensive line coach in high school football for at least 20 years in Coach Mickey and when he retired Coach Tackett stepped in and hasn't missed a beat. I'm 50 years old and with offensive lines like belfry has had for the past 10 years I think I could average 5 yards a carry.

Ray Horton..... Horton is going to be the key

To beat belfry you have to stop the fullback with your d-line. The linebackers cannot stay in there and stop the fullback. They have to be able to scrape to qb and pitch. That's just on the option. You also have to guard the power sweep, reverse, and a couple times a game you have to guard the pass. Something else I'm impressed with is belfry's running backs. They know that if they gain 4 yards a carry they win the football game.

Noah Corbett dropped a DIME to X Willis last night, by the way.

Belfry went from a good team in the regular season to a great team in the playoffs. Lexington Catholic will have to stop Belfrys ground and pound and because Belfrys offensive line they will not be Ableft to stop it. Now that the game is on Sunday gives Coach haywood more time to work with his secondary for Lex Caths passing threat. I just don't see belfry going down.

Very true. Coach Mickey,Tackett, and Rowe have all done an excellent job in preparing kids and helping them play to there highest potential. Homer Simpson could make it into the end zone running behind this line

Someone give me some stats of a key or key players from Lex Cath. I can't find anything. I'm trying to figure out if they are going to give Belfry a good game or not. From what I've found there nothing special about them.

Our secondary will need to step up. LC will have some success against Belfry, but Haywood will make the needed adjustments and limit LC offensively.
Belfry will be very satisfied gaining 3-4 yards per play, rattling those chains and eating that clock. I don't think LC can stop the run.

I think it has been demonstrated that Homer Simpson would have to be able to hold onto to the ball though. And run fast.

I'll take the Knights... Simply because of the way the pirate fan base act.. that in itself says a lot that I'd pick a Lex school over a mountain school! I'm glad the kids act better than the adults, y'all ought to be proud... I expect it to be a high scoring game... I don't suspect either team will be able to stop the other on D.. Belfry is far and away better on O than D. Defense for Belfry not that great. 42-35 Knights

You mind explaining what you mean about the adults? And btw great analysis for the Corbin game, you were real close in what you said!

If I'm LexCath, I'm watching the Tates Creek film and hoping Belfry hasn't improved at stopping that sort of attack since then.

I'd pick the furriners over pirates.

Not many LexCath fans on this site. That's why you aren't seeing much talk in their favor.

killbilly usmc Wrote:Wow no one gives lex Cath much respect I think this will be a good game. Not saying they shouldn't be respected. Most of the posters on here are just pointing out the obvious. Belfry is a ground and pound O that keeps an offense off the field well due to their long clock eating drives. They're very capable of blowing past you with speed (Willis) when it's there, but will take 3-4 yards every time too. Lex Cath can't score if they're on the sidelines. For comparison, last team they played like that was Johnson Central. How did that end up for Lex Cath?

If you'll take time to read the posts, especially on the first page. There are many people giving props to LexCath.
There's not much to say because they are not an opponent that we are not familiar with. With Central, they were very familiar and each other knew what the other was going to do. In this case, LexCath has never played Belfry and the only one common opponent was Johnson Central.
Belfry respects LC and I am sure they will respect us. There does not seem to be a LexCath fan presence on a primarily Eastern Kentucky Sports website.

Take my words Killbilly usmc the only way Lexington Catholic has a descent shot is to pass the ball and score quick because nobody is going to stop belfry offense this year. I thought Corbin play their best offense of the year against belfry. Corbin left points on the field we could have kicked two field goal but that would have only been six more points. Belfry is a great 3A team this year. :truestory:

I'm very tempted to stay and watch this game since it follows the 2a game.

I probably best get out of dodge before any belfry fans find out who I am. I've trolled there threads enough they may want to hang me.
