The grounding call in high school is different, it has to be thrown at a wr ad from where I was sitting it looked like he just threw it out of bounds. The referee was right there so I think he had the best view to determine. Kind of weird that the rule isn't like college and pros. Also not sure if britt was in or down before the fumble on the next to last td. Not saying it wasn't the right call but the whistle was definitely a little late on that play. But can't have three turn overs and win a game like this. RC is too good. Good game hope they play again.

No suprise here. I have said all season that Russell Co. is the better team. Poster above has it wrong on the schedule, I think Knox Central's schedule hurts them more.

I really hope KC gets to play this team again in the playoffs.

Just got home after riding in a parade that welcomed the 4A District 6 Champions home! There must have been over 50 cars, buses firetrucks, and more! It is awesome to see our community rally around these young men! I tried to bite my tongue all week as I read about how much more physical Knox was than us! Those first two fumbles happened because our boys knocked the stew out of the ball carriers and knocked the ball loose. I was impressed with how our offensives line blocked even without one of our best linemen! Not having two defensive starters tonight hurt and we gave up more yardage than we should have. Mann really impressed me tonight on both sides of the ball. Knox fans were very cordial and I was very impressed with Canady both on the field and off (I talked to him after the game and he was very gracious and wished us luck in the playoffs) Overall it was a great win against a good team. Hope to see them again in a few weeks!

Just got home from the parade, kinda choked up a lil bit. Great game, lakers did it, i was very nervous. Yeah they turned it over becase of a helmet on the ball, and a strip of the ball ,we did give to much per carry, need to tighten that up. Ill tell you what they got some good backs at central. Eletric atmosphere ,had a great time, nice people, and good brauts at the concesion stand. I got on the mountain news website when i got on the web and tryed to see some highlights of this game, and whitley game and they said it would be on ,but nothing, whats up with that?

And just curious guys, concerning the schedule. Would you recliner chair coaches rather have Russell county's final opponent or Knox County's ? Russell plays what appears to be an easier team in Adair while Knox plays a tougher opponent in Madison Central. For a final game before state begins which team benefits most?????

Jumper Dad Wrote:Which crew was it?I'm not sure who they were, but it was a very good crew. They did a good job keeping the calls on an even par between the two teams. There really wasn't much called.....the one grounding call against Russell was across the field and it looked like there was a receiver in the vicinity. The head to head contact was on the opposite end of the field from where I sat, and didn't look like the player lead with his head because he tackled the player from behind. I wouldn't call either calls bad or biased......just judgement calls that I wouldn't argue. I wish all crews were as good as this bunch.
Both teams played clean games. There wasn't any chippyness or pushing and shoving after the whistles, which was nice to see in a game that meant so much, and a testament to both coaching staffs.

Never figured that would happen

What is the deal with Knox's radio team? First they said that Russell Co. has ran up the score on all of the teams they've played and then said they we were running up the score last night and the last touchdown was "classless" and something the Knox staff would never do.
Knox still had a timeout when we scored and the clock would not have run out if they took it to 4th down.

You can look it up if you want to, but I said at the end of last season after the Mercer County loss by Russell County, that they would be a State Championship appearance contender. I still believe. (Unless Highlands is on the same side of the bracket)

Big win for RC

Highlands is on the same side of the bracket. I honestly believe if Russell Co. would have stayed in their previous district they would be playing in their second straight state championship against Highlands this year. The West has been really down this year and last.

Congrats Lakers! I saw highlights from this on WYMT's Sports Overtime last night, and boy is Britt fast!

Congrats Lakers! A team composed of a large majority of seniors, it's a great to see them competing at such a high level.
Keep getting better each week! Rather unfortunate that at some point they will have Highlands waiting on them.

Can't recall if there was a receiver in the vicinity of that grounding call, but there was also the fact that the ball did not make it to the original line of scrimmage. Can anyone clarify if that's also a high school rule?

Elder and CovCath by far Highlands biggest challenge! No team in playoffs will come close to the talent Elder had!! Would love to see RC come to Highlands undefeated, would make the game that much more fun!

I like the Adair game better before playoffs. The Knox Central fans seem to be really quite today. Wish they could have helped RC's schedule strength.

I guess the Knox radio crew forgot a couple of weeks ago when Knox went for 2 up 39-6. That was no class IMO.

That was Knox JV against Clay starters in a monsoon and Knox does not have a JV kicker.

I agree, Russell Co can't be expected to be on Elder's level, but if they are fortunate to get past the Region, it would be one heck of a challenge for both teams. I'm not sure if HHS has faced a more explosive offense this season. Nonetheless, it would be fun to see. Lots of work to do first......one game at a time.

You know what he meant. Elder isnt in Highlands way for a state title.
I dont understand why some of you have to absoloutly bitch someone else out for making a statement.
Russell County could be a test for Highlands, who knows? You wont unless they play...

Zebra, as it turns out with 1 week remaining , Russell has beaten teams with 8 wins, 7 wins and two teams with 6 win seasons. And that is with 1 week left on schedule. I know it's not all that impressive but comparing wins , it's a better schedule than Knox and many others.

E's Army Wrote:Russell County with a big win over a very good Knox Central team. I heard that Canady injured his ankle. does any one know about his status?
Late in the 2nd It looked to me like he may have tweaked an existing injury...actually looked like it was quite bad to begin with, but like a warrior he came back and did his best to put the team on his back. I'd take him with a gimpy ankle on my team any day.
