Heard on the radio that Haywood will re-tire once he get's 300 win's, and that Matney will try to get the job at Belfry

So next season will be it for the wood.

He is as "good" but there are other "good" coaches in eastern Kentucky.

I agree.
However, BGR is a free opinion website and while we all may not agree with topics presented and Yes, some threads are stupid, members are allowed to have a forum for their opinion within the rules.

I don't much agree with somone saying that Haywood should resign. He is Belfry footbal. He is consistency and he is a class act human. Belfry no matter what the situation should keep him until he is ready to go, then let him pick his successor.

One thing thats not right at all is this joker trying to represent the "Nation" and say this is what a lot want including his staff. Thats the most ridiculas thing I've ever heard.
#43
i agree with you Pirates~R~Us 100%.

He certainly has earned the right to stay there and feel secure as far his job goes.

I laughed as soon as I saw the title of this thread.

I was and still am pretty upset with it. This joker thinks he is "representing" Pond Creek, but he is sadly mistaken. To be quite honest, I don't think the person that wrote this has any connection to Belfry High School at all.

Haywood will leave Belfry when he is ready, and I don't think we will EVER have another head coach with as much class as that man has.

I don't see anyone taking over our program when that day comes that can match or even get close to the success that he has had at Belfry.

Let me start by saying that the person that started this thread must not know the first thing about football and does not understand how serious we love this sport here on Pondcreek !!! I can go on and on about how wonderful of a coach Haywood is but in my opinion his record speaks for its self. This man has forgotten more about football than most coaches will ever know. I am one Pirate fan that wishes he could coach forever. People that do not know the first thing about coaching are always ready to kick a guy for loosing just a few games. He didn't become one of Kentuckys top 5 winningest coaches of all time on accident. I can tell you that Haywood is a winner on and off the field. He has taken Belfry Football to new levels in every aspect of the game. He teaches his players much more than football and that makes him special to us here on Pondcreek. Haywood can coach the game of football to his players all year long and can only make them as good as their atletic ability will let them be. I will be the first to say that Russell won because they were simply the better team over all they were bigger, faster and more atletic than we were. These are the kind of things that can not be coached by anyone even on the professional level. Since we are free to post our opinions. My opinion is that if you do not like our coach move to Pike Central, Shellby Valley, East Ridge or even Pikeville. See how things go for you there because its evident you do not belong in THE PONDCREEK NATION !!!!

Bigman needs to go have his IQ checked.. there is absolutely nothing wrong with questioning a coach.. we all do it, but to call for a resignation is pretty far fetched.. all Bigman needs to know is that no matter how tall he gets in life, he will always have to look up to a man with the character and stature of Philip Haywood!

What you hear on the radio is nothing more than speculation and that particular broadcasters opinion.
A radio broadcaster is no different than members on this site, All have there own opinion. Some know what they are talking about and some are just talking heads.
Don't misunderstand an uneducated opinion for fact.

At one time I was a big of an idiot as this bigguy and when I started using my brains, and the part that worried me the most was -

If Coach Haywood leaves, who is qualified to take his spot assuming Coach Mickey leaves when Coach Haywood does?

Jim Matney - not going anywhere and why would he? He is at the biggest school in East Ky where he can build his OWN program.

After his name who are you left with that will MOVE to East Ky. and follow a legend?

Bob Schneider?
Dudley Hilton?
Bob Redman?
Sam Harp?
Mike Glaser?
Ivan McGlone?

I don't think any of those guys are moving to Forrest Hills any time soon.

this thread really upsets me to see that one person would take it on themselves to call a LEGEND out like this...Haywood is a great man and coach probley the best coach in Eastern Ky since Pikevilles coach way back when (name escapes my mind and that is terrible..to pissed to think)...I have been lucky enough in my life to be from a diffrent school and to be able to sit down with this man on diffrent occasions to talk to him...This is a man that is not only a great coach but is probley one of the most inspiring people i have ever had the chance to talk to...he not only knows football but is also able to teach his players about life...he has impacted not only the pond creek nation but has impacted this whole area...the day that he resigns will be the day of morning in Pike Co...many will cry and laugh and rejoice as memories escape the mouths of many...from the 2 state championships and old rivalry games with P-Burg at Vipperman to Coach Haywoods 300th win Eastern Ky will be in shock...and the day that CAM stadium has the Haywood named attached to it tribulation will erupt from the crowd as people from every school will be on attendance...HAYWOOD WILL NEVER EVER LET THE HEARTS OF MANY GO!!!!!!!

Haywood isn't going anywhere, but they may be grooming Casey Lequire for the job when he is ready of course.
