With Joe Jackson back this year, I'd love to pick my Eagles by four TD's. I think I'll be more cautious though and be happy to get out of Lexington with a win of any kind.
Touting your team as the Patriots and then crashing back to reality isn't a good look, and embarrassing.:Cheerlead

I donât care what max preps âsaysâ....Henry Clay was average at best. Scott and Greenup were absolutely flat awful. Iâll reserve judgement on South Charleston.

So ole Josey thinks he is more knowledgeable than Max Preps? Itâs good to see that youâll reserve judgment on South Charleston. Iâm glad you didnât bash your fellow West Virginians. Iâll give you one thing,Greenup was awful, but Iâd bet the farm youâve never even watched Henry Clay or Scott play this year, but you expect everyone to believe your expert opinion on here. Are all Belfry fans self proclaimed guruâs of the gridiron or are you the leader of that pack? Iâm also detecting a lot of anger in your posts here lately. Whatâs the matter? Do you have the I hate the KHSAA and their cross bracketing blues? Or are you still mad because big bad Boyle County didnât take a knee during your game with them during a Belfry injury like only JFL players do now. I donât think Iâve ever witnessed a varsity squad take a knee during an injury. Is that just a Belfry/West Virginian ritual?

I am not defending Mr Wales because he donât need me too. But you must not watch any high school football this year besides Ashlandâs games. I have seen a lot of teams take a knee when opposing teams players get hurt or their own team mates. You need to get out more. Now for Johnson Central have a great rest of the week of practice and go take care of business

Kentucky is an average at best football state. There are no strong classes in the state. In most years, there are only 2 or 3 teams in each class that have reasonable chances of winning a state title, and most district schedule are loaded with "cupcakes."
As Indianapolis Warren Central showed in its anihilation of then undefeated Bowling Green and Henry Clay's rout of a very good Scott County team on the road showed, losing big to a strong team does not necessarily make the losing team a cupcake.
This is an exceptionally good Johnson Central team that is capable of making good teams look bad. With no common opponents, nobody knows for sure how FS and JC match up. That's what has made the last few 4A finals so interesting and unpredictable.
I think anybody who confidently predicts their team will win this game comfortably, including myself, is engaging in some wishful thinking.

Before Ed O'Bannon ruined my all-time favorite video game series... EA Sports NCAA Football... teams were given a letter grade of A+ through D- on Offense, Defense & an Overall grade. Every player on the roster was graded based on a pre-determined list of skills and probability of starting. (I was untouchable using the 2007 West Virginia team that had Pat White, Steve Slaton & Owen Schmitt running the triple option).
Here are my opinions on the overall letter grades based on the EA Sports NCAA College Football system (yes, I know this is not scientific, but it's is the way I wanted to do it).
A+ - B
Capital, WV.
Ashland (X2)
Belfry
Henry Clay
Knox Central
Lou. Moore
B- - D+
Scott
South Charleston, WV.
Greenup County
D & below
Bourbon County
Rowan County
East Carter
Boyd County

I frankly don't care what you say. Henry Clay handily beat a team playing for the 6a title and the numbers are run for both teams schedules. Johnson central and Franlin measured by the same metric JC played the better schedule.

I will make this short and sweet, I think Johnson Central wins and wins big. Franklin Simpson lost too much talent off of last years championship team and the Golden Eagles look to be fielding one of their best, if not the best team in school history. Also, 4A as a whole, is as weak as I have ever seen it. With that being said, Johnson Central wins by a score of 45-14. Good luck Golden Eagles!!

No anger on my part. Maybe some frustration. Good thing you're not a betting man....because not only did I see Scott play on two occasion, I also saw Henry Clay as well. Like I said....Henry Clay was average at best. Scott was terrible. Glad to see ol' Tomcat back around. Maybe we'll get see y'all first hand next season. I guess that's if y'all decide to show up and not forfeit.

Hey...I didn't say JC didn't play the better schedule. I just didn't agree with the assessment at JC played 10 quality teams/games.

In 2016, the JC senior class had a mission that started the day after getting beat in 2015. The 2016 state title game was their Tyson vs. Spinks, June 1988 heavyweight title unification bout. That bout lasted 91 seconds... Tyson landed a body shot that dropped Spinks for an eight count, then Tyson landed a right uppercut that ended the fight. Tyson left no doubt who the champ was. Winning 48-0, JC left no doubt who the champ was.

In 2017, when Franklin-Simpson hit the two big passing TD's early in the game that was like Anderson Silva hitting Rick Franklin with his knees and elbows at UFC 77. After the 1st period, Rich Franklin had to have his corner help him back to his stool. The fight ended by KO early in the 2nd round. Franklin-Simpson won the game after hitting those early passing TD's and the way they shut down JC's running game. JC didn't quit, but Franklin-Simpson showed they were the better team.

JC beat Henry Clay 33-21. That was in Week 2.
Henry Clay beat Scott County @ Scott County 51-27. That was in Week 6
Scott County is playing for the 6A state title.
Possible scenarios to explain the JC, Henry Clay & Scott County Six Degrees of Seperation.
- Henry Clay was really good when JC played them. HC was 1-1 before they played JC.... 50-22 win over Tates Creek & a 0-41 loss to Cov. Cath., the same Cov. Cath. that is undefeated & playing for the 5A state title.
- Henry Clay got really really good between the JC & Scott County game. Then fell off the map after that game, cause HC went 3-3 after the Scott County game and lost to Simon Kenton, 7-25, in the 2nd round.
- Scott County was 5-1 going in to the Henry Clay game & there one loss was to La Salle from Cincy, OH.
- Scott County beat Simon Kenton 56-28 in the Regional Championship... which is one week after SK beat Henry Clay.
- Henry Clay played a 4A state finalist, a 5A state finalist & a 6A state finalist. Going 1-2 in those games. There's probably not another team in the entire state, regardless of class that has plated three state finalist this season.

Canât judge HC or Scott Co on that game. SC was without several starters.

Go back and look at my edited post.
UK beat LSU in 2007... the same LSU team that won the BCS title.
Henry Clay had to play the team that was in front of them... no matter if they had to field the cheerleaders.
It's ok to say it.... Henry Clay was a pretty good football team this season.

I've seen JC play....up close and personal. Jim has a very good team. Not the best he's had, but very good. Certainly good enough to win his second trophy. Believe me....a lot of Belfry folks cheering for the Eagles

Have you seen FS play this year? I agree they did lose a lot and I donât think 2018 team is better than 2017 team, but these boys are good. The young man that lived in yâallâs backfield last year and I believe he will do the same this year, is back.
