Restaurant row?

Moe Wrote:Man if an Olive Garden comes to Pikeville I'll never have any money. My Girl loves that place. I might as well sale my Car....lol

I personally prefer Golden Coral but that hasn't been mentioned...Pikeville is growing quick. 10 years from now it'll be one of the Larger cities in the state.

Olive Garden is nice, but if we are getting a chain Italian place I would love to see a Carrabba's (anyone else eaten at the one in Lexington?) come to Pikeville. Also, I don't worship at the feet of Red Lobster like a lot of folks around here, but it would still be a step up from Long John's/Captain D's. Someone also mentioned Outback, I agree, an excellent choice for a steakhouse.

One thing we probably don't need is another Mexican place! With 3 already, Pikeville probably has more Mexican restaurants per capita than any other city in the country! Smile

Three is a bit too much but I don't eat at the feista Mexicana which I have heard is HORRIBLE!!! Anyways, I did like O' Charleys when I ate at one outside of Columbus. However, it does have a Applebee's type feel to it.

I have never ate at Carrabba's. I will have to when I go back to school.

Another good Italian place to eat in Lexington was the place on Alexandria Drive known as both Lexitalia and Paisano's (at different times). The food was really good, and it was kinda out-of-the-way and as such was never very crowded. Oh, and I should mention that supposedly the mafia-types liked to frequent the place when in town on business! I know it sounds like a goofy rumor, but I heard it from several locals when I lived in Lexington, and there was one time when it seemed like they may have been in the back VIP room when I was there eating in the front section. There was a big limo parked out front, and the staff was running in and out of the back room like crazy, as though they were really trying to keep someone happy. I know, it could've been any local bigwig they were trying to please, but it's more fun to think of it being the mafia. Big Grin

Anyway, it's a moot point now. When I was in town last year I tried to go there to eat and it was closed down.

I remember my brother telling me of a place like that in Lexington. Is it the one that is off beside Nicholusville road, the road that Don Wilson's music store is on.

No, you're thinking of Southland Drive. The place was in a shopping center on Alexandria Drive, inside New Circle between Harrodsburg and Versailles.

OH I must be confusing my streets again. I am still getting familiar with Lexington. I have from campus to Rupp, Limestone to Nicholusville, from campus to Hamburg and New Circle and Man o' war figured out. I have not been able to go everywhere yet. I will learn though.

There have been rumors for years about most of these eateries coming to Pikeville. The sonic is coming, a Paintsville Businessman is putting it in and if it goes well like the one in Paintsville I hear he may put one in P’burg too. I understand that a different type of business (not food related or electronics) is going in over behind where The Castle is. I’m not at liberty to say as of yet.

i would too but i think o'charleys is a branch of applebee's franchise so i doubt it

O'charleys would be awsome used to hang out at the one in Richmond it was great.

I would rather see good businesses (Best Buy or Curcuit City etc.) come to Pikeville instead of more and more restaurants but I guess this is the first step for more and more development.

I have also heard that a Quizno's is going in beside of the Gamestop.

Yeah I agree. I love Quizno's I hope it really does come to pikeville....before gamestop was put in I heard that Quizno's was going to be put in where the gamestop is right now.

I almost forgot most favorite new resturant (new to me at least). Pikeville needs a Buffalo Wind Wings!!!! I would eat there every single day. and clear them out on Tuesdays (boneless wings 15 cents). Heck yeah! Forget everything else I think a sports bar would be awesome for Pikeville!!! Anyone agree, disagree?

I don't know what BW3's you went to but in Lexington Tuesdays are 40 cent traditional wings as the special. The place would go bankrupt if they sold boneless for 15 cents.

Yes that (quiznos) is pretty definite.

The more the better. No matter what Pikeville gets it will help our living around here. Pikeville has a population around 6500 according to google earth census. But that dont include all the people that travel into P'ville everyday. Instead of a friggin carwash, a BestBuy would be great. Think of how many people from our area go to Best Buy in Lex or Huntington.

40 cents...I could not remember the correct amount. for some reason 15 cents was poping into my mind sorry to mis-inform you on my post. 40 cents does sound a little more reasonableBig Grin Sorry about that man. By the way the one I always go to is on Broadway.
Back to the discussion. Would a BW3 be possible in Pikeville?

I thought a car wash was a stupid idea, too, then I see that it looks like the Landmark is adding another two stalls to their car wash in town!

I don't really get it, but apparently there must be a big market for car washes right now. Me, I'd just as soon wash mine at my house.

I dunno, it is so much easier to go to one of these places and spend $2 to wash it. I usually use the Pikeville Car Wash but I get free passes for it because I drove the owners daughter to school for a year Cool....and I'm lazy Smile

I agree with More Cowbell on this one. I would rather wash it myself.

Also I think that the Buffalo Wind Wings is the restaurant I would like to come. I think Pikeville could keep a sports bar in business.

I guess there must be a market for the things, or else there wouldn't be so many new ones being built.

The main problem I have with the car wash going in by Wal-Mart is that it is using up a prime piece of commercial real estate. That land could've been used to lure another retail store like a Best Buy, or a couple of smaller stores or restaurants. Instead, such a great location is being taken by a car wash. It just seems like that could hurt the chances of landing something more desirable (at least to me).

Completely agree. There will still be a little piece of land next to it but I don't think it is big enough for a big retail chain. Maybe a restaurant.

I agree with you guys. And that land isn't cheap. Someone spent a ton and are just going to put in a car wash....must expect big returns (which I don't see happening).

This section of the thread has turned into us venting about the land being used up. :p Anyways, even with the horrible decision to put a cart wash there, maybe a restaurant or an addition to the riverside plaza (correct me if that is not the name) could be made. Just something to compensate for the wasted land..

There still seems to be some unused land on the side where Burger King and Super 8 are located, maybe something could go in there.

Incidentally, does anyone know what is going in on South Mayo beside of Days Inn, where the liquor store used to be and the gas station is being torn down? Hey maybe it'll be another car wash! Rolleyes

I heard from a good source that Prestonsburg is getting an Applebee's...And Peebles is going in where the old Winn-Dixie was and Homeworx is moving in with them like a mini mall, and Hibbett Sports is moving where Homeworx is now and a Goodwill is moving where Appalachian Wireless use to be....but Applebees will be at the red lights as you come out of Walmart and also beside them an Hampton Inn.......
