Lots of teams won't be returning to hazard after contracts are completed would be my guess...

Hazard station said 37 yards for Hazard.
I listened to the game and I was amazed. Sounded like Somerset was getting straight up hosed. Hazard would not have scored if not for all the penalties. That was most of the yardage in their scoring "drives". Somerset had to have well over 10 major penalties. It was really bad.The film will be on Hudl so somebody do the count please lol. If I am Pikeville I don't want those refs allowed in the stadium when they play Hazard lol.

Somerset's got a stable of RBs and it sounded like Cam Austin played well last night after Miller went down, but that loss still hits hard. He's a special player who was having a great year. Really devastating injury.

You bunnies had be better be lucky and glad you got the win. Hazard doesn't cough up that punt return, youd went back home with your first L of the year. Home teams get the most calls, would been the other way around at Somerset.

Well there badly mistaken. When hazard hit the 49 yard field goal they had 20 yards alone on that drive. Hazard jumped offsides several times giving Somerset short downs and first downs.
Most of Somersets penaltyâs where face mask calls and holdings which tends to happen when quarterbacks are scrambling in the backfield.
As another poster said the home team lusually gets a few calls. Iâve seen it that way whoever I was going to watch. I can bet many will say the same thing if they went to Pikeville, Paintsville and etc.... to play because I sure remember hearing/ reading complaints from just about everyone.
I also want to add just because I support and cheer for hazard doesnât mean Iâm a homer because Iâm most definitely not. You or anyone can ask PHSForever because he can sure tell you.

^ I also want to add the Pikeville coaching staff was there 2nd half. They saw the second half.

I also want to add that there is two things this proves. Either Hazard is better then some think ( has had a starting lineman out for 3 weeks now) or Somerset is not as good ( which losing Miller hurts).

I donât think it can be understated what losing your leading scorer/leading rusher on the 2nd offensive play of the night - not to mention the psychological impact it probably had on the sideline watching one of their best lay there with a major injury.
Here is what I came away with; Hazard is good, really physical and well coached as always. Somerset is good and had some big obstacles last night and overcame. Given a week or two of practice without Miller I think theyâll be fine but thatâs hard to absorb on the fly.

Only thing this game proved is youâll need more than home field advantage, homer refs and an unexpected injury to beat the bunnies.
Might sound crazy, but Iâm even more impressed with them now than I was before last nightâs game. Still the hands down favorite to win 2A, imo.

Additionally (last Iâll add on the subject) Alex is an outstanding kid. He works a couple jobs to provide for himself, heâs an A/B student and a great ambassador to the Briar Jumper Football Program. This kid will succeed in life - the reason he is as good as he is speaks for itself; thereâs not a harder working person on the field than Alex. I spoke to a couple people and they said his surgery went well. Alex has 15 screws, a plate and a rod in his lower left leg. Send positive vibes to that kid. Heâs worth it.

I saw Hazard lose there best player in 2016 against Somerset. Itâs the same instance. Somerset was pretty good that year to along with Hazard.
Somerset has weapons at disposal. They have some very good backups. I most certainly agree give them time to adjust. But it helps to have that quarterback on the field because he is a game changer.

They were there the entire game actually. Coach Mac, his wife and the OC stood on Somersetâs sideline.

I thought that was in 2017 bac2369, I might be wrong but Hazard lost a dandy that year and his brother I believe.

Hated seeing the Miller kid go down with what appeared to be a season ending type injury. Many of their kids were shell shocked coming back to the end zone to warm up after the delay. Itâs an emotional game and now they have a lot more to play for.
One thing Iâve noticed reading through this thread. Many including bunny fans treat this loss like a âweâre as good b/c of Millerâ. But with or without Miller Somerset was in for a huge dog fight. They win that game with or without Miller because of a great QB who can improvise and turn a coverage sack into a positive gain and on one occasion a TD.
Hazard dug themselves a hole in the second half by not protecting the football. Same could be said in the first half. A couple of untimely penalties put them behind the chains in Somerset territory killing drives.
What Hazard misses is a speedy back. Fletcher is a great power back but heâs relied on too much and is extremely banged up. Theyâre a team everyone is forgets about easily but are very dangerous and with a week to prepare could give Pikeville another dog fight. Best thing for them theyâre battle tested with youth to build off of for years to come.
Somerset is a great team with talent across the board. Theyâve got two grind it out type games coming up. Danville will give them a bigger test than many think.
Hazard meanwhile will get Pikeville in two weeks and likely again in 4 weeks. Time to buckle up those chin straps. Secondary needs to keep grinding and improving this Bye week. Panthers will expose their deficiencies.

It was 2017 and coincidentally the score of that game was nearly the same as the one last night. 20-9.
Corey Smithâs brother went down the week before against Letcher with a torn ACL.

Not going to argue on penalty yards.
I will watch hudl as will others and post exact numbers. Extremely lopsided all night. Bad as you will ever see.
Also if not for the false start on field goal, it was no good and Hazard got second chance and hit it. So that penalty actually put points on the board for Hazard. I will watch the tape and post exact penalty yardage. Hazard announcers on WSGS said 37 for Hazard and I think that will be pretty accurate.

I move with ball during games. I donât stand in 1 spot. Most people watch from the bleachers, I watch/walk with the offenses.
Both teams are physical. Hard hitting all night. Both teams need to try to hold on to the ball. Seen way to many fumbles both ways tonight.
Here's a link to that play at the half. If you were down there you must have been standing with the receiver's body and a few others between you and the catch. The dude of the end zone that would have had a view was empty.

Glad to hear everything went good for him. It kills me to see seniors get hurt, and have to watch the rest of the season. Get well young man and keep that sideline focused!!!

I remember in 2017 in a playoff game when officials who wasnât from there area called a pretty lopsided game according to others.
I might agree with 37 the first half, but not the whole game.

Another poster on here had 20 yards for Hazard. Maybe Somerset radio reported. 20?

Prayers for Miller. Great win for Somerset. I know from experience how hard it is to win in Hazard. I was not at the game but a Coaching Friend of mine was. He Texted me late in 3rd Qt. His exact words was Somerset is getting hosed. I will watch film on game.

Special teams hurt Hazard in this game just like last years game, last night had a muffed punt late in 3rd qrt, that changed the game, then with Somerset holding a 13-9 lead, the jumpers ran a fake punt for a TD, Hazard also had a short FG blocked.
Hazard had 2 motion penalties on the the 49 yard FG that pushed it back from 39.
The loss of Miller was huge blow for Somerset and kind of sucked energy out of the whole place. Prayers for speedy recovery!
There were a lot of Penalties on Somerset, a lot of them were their corners holding Hazard WR off the line.
I think Somerset is a really good team with great shot at the 2A title,, I like how hard this bulldog team plays

I canât see anything from that shot except the players on the ground. But the refs behind the play from that replay and real has no way to really tell if he catches it/bobbles it/traps it on the ground. It was called a touchdown and thatâs really about the end of it.
I donât see myself in the video but I do see the women who was just up from me on the play at the very end of that highlight.

Those kids left it out on the field. Special teams bit them, and it also seems Grundy is thorn in Hazards side on those type plays for years..

Sounds like a quality kid without sufficient parental foundation to reach his goals. If he is unable to continue in either/both of his current jobs due to injuries incurred on the field, I certainly hope that Briar Jumper Nation will step up and provide financial support for the young man even though his touchdown count has now maxed out.
If a Bunny supporter takes the time, Iâm sure a GoFundMe page for the young man would prove beneficial. We all love high school football and would welcome the chance to donate to any/all of the young men who need support.

Paintsville gets hosed when we play Raceland, I donât care if the game was on the moon with me and Melons as 2 of the refs, the other 5 would outvote is. Last years HOME playoff game was 125 yards to 10. Raceland played 8 quarters against one of the best front 7 in 1A last year and didnât commit a single hold... rant over lol
Hazard beat Paintsville but I was not impressed. They have a solid team but I canât see them giving Pikeville trouble.

Hazard is good. Somerset is good. Lots of penalties any way you want to slice it. The loss of any young man for a game and a season hurt. Hurts even worse because he is a senior who worked his butt off to become this talented. Both teams live to play another day. That's the gist of the story. Good luck to Hazard moving forward.
