The wheels on the bus are flat, flat, flat... this is NOT good for JC. Not at all.
I will say this - Sheldon Clark has some talent, they are well coached and they play hard each and every snap.
JC has talent, appears to be wholly undisciplined, but is still playing hard and has a LOT left to play for.
I think the Cards are going to have a nice season, and perhaps the Eagles will discover an updraft sometime soon. Eliminating the things that take points off the board is where it begins.
There is enough talent there to make the remaining 6 regular season games worthwhile and still land a home playoff game if they play hard and eliminate mistakes.

SC is for real!!! JC another tough night. My hat off to you for playing some major progams to start with. 0-4 with these teams will mean more then playing someone you could beat 50 to 7. If could quit shooting your self in foot, arm, finger, hip, toe, ear, and head (that is 7 right) you will be fine.

Sheldon Clark is a good football team.

Way to go Sheldon Clark, I predicted you would win. Yea:Cheerlead

Terrible play call to loose it on. Half back pass when your pounding it down their throat. Panic. Panic. Panic. Central remains one dimensional on O. They will continue to struggle until they develope some thing that resembles a pass, or play someone they can push around. My guess is they wait for the second option to come around. GOOD LUCK GETTING THAT FIRST WIN IN WEEK 5.

I would like to congratulate our Cardinals! We had a great win ugly or not! LOL! Sorry to see one of our top guys go down in KP Skyles but I think our players really stepped up when that happened. One of the turning points was the touch down by Casey Delong #21 and then our Freshmen making some key tackles. All of our players did great, you can't leave out Cody Slone or Austin Stepp. Good luck boys with the Fairland Game keep it coming!

Congrats Sheldon Clark
Sounds like Cody Slone and a few others had a great game.

YAY Cards.... You played some hard hitting football against JC. The fans are so proud of you It was a great game for the entire team - players and coaches. We hope kp skyles is okay he did awesome the time he was in the game. Hats off to the freshmen that got into the game, O'Connor and Lafferty. Hats off to Brad Stafford, Jo-Jo Scott, A-Ray, Casey Delong, Cody Slone, Matt Slone and the entire team, they stepped up took control and it showed. GOOOOOOOOOO Cards. As i said from the beginning this is OUR year.

This game was a game of hot potato, JC dropped the ball over 15 times, only 7 were recovered by the Cards. SC fumbled the ball 4 times only 2 were covered by Central. JK got picked 2 times, once by Ian Bertling, once by Cody Slone who also picked the halfback pass that was on SOT. It looked to me like JC has what so many other schools have: A good QB that runs alot, and a good RB and thats it. JJ JUDE & JK Hall is the team, same for Breathitt Fugate and Haddix, you can not win a game with two amazing players if they have no support. Plus like Breathitt, both JK Hall & JJ Jude play both sides of the ball every down?!?! This is why JK was carried off the field twice tonight, and the same for JJ Jude, who I was told had to go to the ER after the game with a concussion.
I'm a Cardinal Fan and they played a good game, congrats on the win! Several players stepped up tonight, Senior Cody Slone, Matt Slone, Junior Avery Ray, Cory Crum Sophomore KP Skyles played well until the ankle injury, Freshman Tyler Oconner, Chase Lafferty made a heck of a tackle near the end of the game...Austin Stepp played a great passing game, only the have 4 flags threw on passes....150 yards passing...oh wait after the flags 41!! If they completed a pass, boom the yellow hankie was flying!
Great win Cards!

I need to comment on one other thing, SCs QB Austin Stepp.. Austin has really growed in the past year, he shows courage, he shows that he can run with the ball, throw the ball and doesn't care to take a good hit.. he is an awesome QB... way to go Stepp.
09-12-2009, 11:59 AM
I agree with cardinalmomma, Austin Stepp is definitely a fine qb, and has improved dramatically this year.
In regard to the game, I believe that SC showed us that they have many young men that can step up and play well. I am only going to mention one name, for fear that I may leave someone out. But I have to mention Cody Sloan; he is definitely player of the game!
On another note, I certainly hope KP Skyles recovers quickly; he is an extremely hard runner, and only a sophomore.
Oh, and a couple freshmen stepped in to play well: Chase Lafferty and Tyler O'Conner.
Thus SC is looking good for the future. Good luck in the upcoming games, and hope and pray for no injuries.

Hang in there Eagles...this is simply a puzzle waiting for all the pieces to be put together...it's coming. We HAVE to hold onto that ball, that is where we are beating ourselves. Good Luck next week.

First off, I was rooting for Sheldon Clark in this one. I'm glad they got the win. Johnson Central give this one away with fumbles though. They shot themselves in the foot to many times. Central was very productive on offense, but couldn't hang on to the ball. JC should have won this game. I'm not taking anything away from Sheldon Clark though. They played solid defense and really started pounding the run in the 2nd half. Anytime you only win by 8 while the other team had 7 turnovers, consider yourself lucky to get the W.

In the type of offence ran by teams like JC the only time you can get a big play (unless playing a much weaker team) is off a trick play. There offence is built to pick up 3-5 yards per play and keep the chains moving while eating alot of clock. When you can't keep the chains moving (fumbles) it puts alot of preasure on your defence to keep you in the game. When you are fumbleing as much as JC right now there is no way the defence can hold out. Just too much time on the field for them. Central is a very athletic team that cam pull it together and make a run if the coaching staff figures out how to cut down on the turnovers. The upgrade in quality compitition that is on the schedual this year for Central has really taken a toll on there confidence and maybe (I hate to say) brought the fans back to earth. Central has a long way to go this season and time is running out! Better get the bus rolling again soon. Good luck and GOD bless!

Congrats to the Cards!!!

Shedon clarks o-line dominated the line of scrimmage most of the night and gave Stepp time to throw if the line keeps it up this Sc team is gonna be hard to beat this year Go Cards!!!!Everyone played there butt off and they deserve this win...!!!

The Cardinals are for real this year. In my opinion, this makes Lawrence County look even better.

They had several drives that just didnt go anwhere.

True, they sure did. But most of the drives wasn't going anywhere because they were giving the ball away. No excuse for 7 turnovers for a team like Central. I'm not saying Sheldon Clark didn't play tough defense. Central was being very effective moving the ball though. It would be hard for any team to beat Sheldon Clark with that many turnovers. The Central defense played a good game, but their offense kept giving away good field position and they were wore down in the 2nd half.

I agree with this post. JC will have to improve their line play to run the ball. JC will have to develop a passing game to reach then next level. This starts teaching skills at the elementary level up through the middle school.
With the talent they have have this year using JK Hall in the gun passing and running the option with the great backs he has would be hard to stop, just my opinion.

thats been matney's problem forever. he always makes stupid calls in crunch time. he did it at SC and he will never stop at JC. I just think now everyone is figuring out over in paintsville that he isn't the best thing since sliced bread. people wonder why he doesn't have a state championship???? GO CARDS:Cheerlead:Cheerlead
