Ordinarily, I would be super-hyped about this game. But, in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't mean diddly squat. If you took the best players from both these teams and formed a JohnCor All-Star team, that team would still lose by 40 to Boyle. These two losers are just playing to see who will be the first to get their tail kicked by Haddix' superpower team.

While this game won't matter much in the long run of final standings, I would like to see Corbin win over there as a payback for the classless behavior exhibited by some of the Johnson County faithful the last time the Hounds were over there. Those in attendance who weren't from Paintsville said it was the worst display of sportsmanship they had ever seen. The Corbin announce crew said the same thing. GO HOUNDS!!!

I believe it. Our family trees have common branches and no one is more sportsmanlike or more of a humble citizen than I am . It must be in our DNA. Granny always said that some of the most sportsmanlike people she knew was her people from Meadow Creek. So, yes, I believe you won a sportsmanship award. I have, as well. Been awhile, but I did.

Bring on the D-1 transfers!!! Most of them can go both ways, as well. Big Malachi on the DL, can also play TE. Meadors in the secondary can also star at WR and kick returner. Should be fun additions.

Corbin has never won at Johnson Central. I think this is a tale of two offenses. You have the heavy run vs a heavy pass teams. The two best athletes on the field for each team is Johnson Centrals RB Zack MCCoart and Corbins QB Kade (KID) Elam. I expect this one to be a dandy. They won't be no running clock here. It will be running all over the field.   I will give Johnson Central the edge where they are at Home since Corbin has to prove they can win in their house. Corbin has started slow in some games this year and cannot start slow in this one or it will be a loss. Johnson Central on the other hand cant allow Corbin to walk all over that defense with Kid Elam or it will be a loss. Should be perfect football weather next week and that means NO EXCUSES.

Great plan. Corbin will be facing the leading rushing team in the state in all classes and all Corbin needs to do is suddenly improve it's defense against the run. Brilliant! SIMPLY brilliant!

I am sticking with my preseason statement. Johnson Central should be favored to beat Corbin at home. The only places that I see that Corbin has an edge are at quarterback, receivers, and possibly in the secondary, but Johnson Central should dominate the LOS, especially in the second half. Corbin's pass coverage will not be a factor in this game. Their secondary better be able to make open field tackles because they should get plenty of opportunities.

Austin Slone has played great in his first season running the JC offense and Zack McCoart is playing at least as well as he did before his injury last season. IMO, Elam will need to have a great performance for Corbin to win in Paintsville, and if JC does not turn the ball over, even a superhuman performance by Elam may not be enough for a Corbin win.

Johnson Central will get dominated in the woodshed.

I been keeping check on the wood shed here.  Making sure the roofs not leaking from all the rain we've had of late. 

Got wood that's been split and seasoned.  Sitting on pallets, stacked about a inch or two below the roof.  

It's getting about time to start having a fire to get some heat with.  In all honesty I could've almost used one this morning lol

Are there scenarios where Corbin could win handily.... yes.  Are those scenarios likely.... no.


JC is solid on the D-line & at LB.... our secondary is a work in progress.  It seems like most of the passing TD's we've allowed have occurred on busted coverages.


I can't imagine that JC's pressure won't be enough that Elam will have more than 5 seconds to sling the ball around.  Maybe a few times that may happen, but not consistently.


As far as the offense goes.... will Corbin stop JC's rushing attack a few times? It's possible, but far from likely that JC's offense gets slowed down, especially in the 3rd & 4th quarters.

I had heard the other day that his Midland team would scrimmage JC often and that he was very familiar with JC. plus I know he has worked closely with Coach Elam

Corbin posters seem to believe that Corbin is going to be able to pile up as many passing yards as they want against JC because Belfry had so much success. What they do not understand is how much better Belfry's running game is than Corbin's. Elam had under 200 yards of passing against a JC defense that had been weakened by injuries last season and the two teams had the same number of total yards.

Without a strong Corbin running game, JC will put a lot of pressure on Elam. He will undoubtedly make some big plays, but so will JC's defense. Belfry's line and their running threats gave Varney a lot of time to find receivers. Elam will not have as much time,  especially as fatigue begins to impact Corbin's offensive line.

I don't know how many Corbin out of state transfers will see their first action of the season tomorrow night, so I may be underestimating the quality of Corbin's line.

Good catch. FD averaged about 8 yards per carry against Corbin's top rated rushing defense. FD is averaging 7 yards per carry for the season. Johnson Central is leading the state in rushing and averages 8.4 yards per carry for the season. 

Relief is on the way for Corbin in the form of newly eligible transfers, arriving just in time for the game. That must be an awkward situation in the locker room when a player starts for half a season and then has to watch an outsider play his position for the rest of the season.

Corbin's staff shows so much loyalty and gratitude to their players. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that team? ?

I think PJ is right, Elam will feast upon a porous JC secondary. Question is, how will Corbin handle a strong Eagle running attack . They run that offense very well. If I were the JC coach I would try to eat up clock and limit  Elam's time on the field. Long , sustained drives ending in TDs is what I would want if I were a JC fan. Now, I do believe that JC will have to throw the ball some to win the game. Corbin will do their share of scoring. It's hard to see how this is not a high scoring game.

I want to apologize for earlier comments about the JC faithful. My comments were directed at the contingent of low-life hillbillies that booed a severely injured kid who lay on the ground for 45 minutes, to taunts and shouts of "get him off the field!"  Now, I'm not saying this was all Johnson Central fans who engaged in such despicable, redneck behavior. I truly believe there are literally dozens of good and decent citizens in Johnson County. To those dozens, I apologize for earlier comments.

I am sticking with my preseason statement. Johnson Central should be favored to beat Corbin at home. The only places that I see that Corbin has an edge are at quarterback, receivers, and possibly in the secondary, but Johnson Central should dominate the LOS, especially in the second half. Corbin's pass coverage will not be a factor in this game. Their secondary better be able to make open field tackles because they should get plenty of opportunities.

Austin Slone has played great in his first season running the JC offense and Zack McCoart is playing at least as well as he did before his injury last season. IMO, Elam will need to have a great performance for Corbin to win in Paintsville, and if JC does not turn the ball over, even a superhuman performance by Elam may not be enough for a Corbin win.

Johnson Central will get dominated in the woodshed.

I been keeping check on the wood shed here.  Making sure the roofs not leaking from all the rain we've had of late. 

Got wood that's been split and seasoned.  Sitting on pallets, stacked about a inch or two below the roof.  

It's getting about time to start having a fire to get some heat with.  In all honesty I could've almost used one this morning lol

If you ever watched Napoleon Dynamite    Uncle Rico could throw a football over mountain's! 

Plus he could throw a pig skin a quarter of a mile! 

That was in 82 so not sure how he'd sling one today

JC has played some really good WV teams over the years.  Just wondering if Salmons was HC of one of them?

I had heard the other day that his Midland team would scrimmage JC often and that he was very familiar with JC. plus I know he has worked closely with Coach Elam

I'm glad you posted those stats on the bottom. I knew JC had the #1 ground game in the state. 

I didn't know until the other day that Corbin has the #1 rush defense in the state.

Corbin is not leading the state in rushing defense, nor do they lead 4A in rushing defense. Douglass rushed for 197 yards against Corbin, which is not included in the defensive stats.

LOVE IT!!!   I'm thinking about doing my own podcast someday.  I told someone in Corbin that the other day and he said that half of Corbin would be scared to death if I started a podcast. Damn right!. They should be.

No problem. Waitaminute noticed the reporting issue. I just posted the rushing yardage Corbin gave up against Frederick Douglass. Hazard's rushing yardage was also not reported, but it was a small number.

Corbin has a good rushing defense, but it doesn't lead the state in that stat. Most of Corbin's defensive players have not faced an offense like JC has waiting on them.
