I'm one who does believe that JC's ground attack will be a problem for Corbin. Unless the newcomers make a big difference from day one, and they might, I believe the Eagles will enjoy quite a bit of success on offense. I do believe they might need to mix in a few passes to win the game but we'll see about that. I think both offenses will be hard for the other to stop. First team to 40 wins ? to 50?

Give me some info on the newcomers. if Corbin allows the Johnson Central offense to perform like it did against the dominant and powerful Breathitt County defense they could be in real trouble.

JC chews up too much clock if they get a lead so Corbin has to get off to a good start. 1st half hasn’t been great to them this year. They have the offensive scheme to shred JC. No it wasn’t Belfry’s running game that allowed them to throw so much against JC. They were 4 wide in the spread with a single back. JC’s defensive backfield isn’t great no matter how much their fans and posters want to defend them. They are solid up front and LBs are good. If JC has to throw more than 5 times or for some reason tries to, they’ve lost the game. Corbin is sound all over but their defense isn’t where it has to be to win that class. I don’t think they are physical enough to stop JC. I wouldn’t be surprised for either team to win tomorrow but I picked JC at home. Turnovers matter a lot in a close matchup. They both are really good. Either could make a run to Kroger but in the end, I don’t see either getting there and both will lose because of defensive warts.

Most of Corbin's defensive players have not faced an offense like JC has waiting on them.
Well, here is how I will respond to this one. Corbin won't see another team in 4A the equivalent of FD unless they play Boyle County. The issue I have is not the players execution. It's the scheme or type of defense they are being asked to play. When you put your athletes in a position that may not be the best fit, then who do you blame, Kids or the Coach? I always will say the coaches should have done a better job in game preparation or game management. Corbin has a new defensive coordinator this year. The question for me is to see what kind of defense Corbin is going to run against JC. It won't take all but 2 plays to figure out what's going on defensively.

I don't want to spoil the experience for those new BGR members who have not yet experienced all the finger pointing and excuse making that follows a Corbin loss.

Not being mean, but as an outsider looking in:
Until Corbin re-establishes their own identity aside from a continuous comparison to Haddix/Boyle….they will always be wondering what would have happened if Haddix had stayed. He did not!
Corbin has to identify as CORBIN- for now, coached by Salmons.
Beat Johnson Central and get ready for “the next” opponent. Worry about Boyle the week you face them.
Game should be a war of totally contrasting styles.

Corbin at Johnson Central
This could be one of those bad matchups for Corbin. The Redhounds have to get their ground game rolling and score early because Johnson Central will run the ball and eat the clock to attempt to keep the ball out of Kade Elam’s hand.
Prediction – Johnson Central 35, Corbin 24

What injuries? Corbin has added players. Pietrowski and Cima are fine. Transfers are suiting up. Not sure about Estep's status.

He is a speedster. Sub 4.5 / 40 . Multiple D-1 offers. The D-1 schools really like him at defensive back. He is a bigtime playmaker. Malachi Brown is a big sophomore defensive lineman. 6-4, 235-240 lb. Already received a D-1 offer from EKU. Great athlete. Dual sport star in football/basketball. Also, can go both ways. can play TE on offense. Great hands, footwork. Ceiling is extremely high for this 15 y.o.(10-03-2024, 06:13 PM)Old School Hound Wrote: I'm one who does believe that JC's ground attack will be a problem for Corbin. I think the first five minutes of the game will tell who will end up winning it. I think win or lose the Corbin teams learns a lot about themselves from this game and will grow a lot from it in solidarity. I think how the zebra's control the game will make a big difference also. I have watched a handful of football games locally in the last two weeks and refs made huge impacts on each games outcome so I don't think it should be overlooked as a factor.

I talked to a couple of nice gentlemen from Hazard last week. Just sweet as they could be. They said look for Corbin to get cheated in Paintsville. Said Johnson Central is only second to Pikeville as far as being the biggest cheaters. Mind you, that's not me saying that. I don't know sh!t from apple butter about anything over that way. But they assured me that JC was big time cheaters. It's a shame you can't expect to have a fair game no matter where you play. I know for a fact Corbin doesn't cheat. They always give opponents a fair shake.

None of it will matter when JC has to forfeit all games this year due to an ineligible player.

We'll, this is new. Corbin fans making excuses for losing before kickoff.
Corbin is favored to win this game and have brought in some out of town talent for some insurance, yet some fans are acting like losers nearly two hours before the game begins.
You're favorites! Act like it! ?

You have the mind of a child lol.
Somebody told me Corbin refs cheated and they bought all their out of state players Range Rovers. So it has to be true. Shame on Corbin, the whole town is crooked and property owners are greedy and shoot homeless people. Need to ship 20000 illegal aliens in to Make Corbin Great Again.
That's what a couple sweet guys told me, so it's true. Shame on Corbin.
