UK won't be playing for the National Championship but neither will WVU. Championship will be 2 of the 3: Alabama, LSU, Southern Cal

Let's do this, Avatar bet, If WVU makes it to the BCS National Championship Game, you get to pick my avatar for a month, but if they don't then I get to pick your avatar for a month! Deal?

If UK wants to hire a top notch coach, a guy that can recruit the best and keep the program in shape, then they'll have to dig deep into the wallets to get it. UK is not an attractive football job. Sure, they have the facilities, they play in the SEC and they're located in a great college town. But, they're not going to get anywhere near the same exposure, excitement, and support that basketball does. you've also got 3 programs around you getting better every year (louisville, cincinnati, west virginia) and it also doesn't help that UK is one of the few SEC schools that deals with cold weather. those speedy guys from georgia, alabama, louisiana are not as fast when its cold. joker will be fine if he gets back to recruiting in ohio and hiring younger coaches to keep the players excitement levels up
First of all, YES Ky absolutely has the money to pay both Calapari and a quality football coach!!!!! Does Ohio state, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, West Virginia, Florida State and ON AND ON have enough money to pay top notch coaches in both sports?? YES!! The idea that UK is not an attractive football job is just a BIG TIME EXCUSE and the rest of your reasons for UK football failure are just BULL SHIT IMO! I believe if our administration had the BALLS to go out and be determined to get a great coach they could get one and with a great coach and a little bit of time our program would be at lest RESPECTABLE and not the LAUGHING stock of the SEC!? As for Joker sir, he will never be fine as a head coach in the best football conference in the United States of America!?!?

but it's an excuse, UK won't be able to steal a good head coach and turn it around in a season or two. washington state went and hired mike leach, they looked 10x worse than UK this week. i think joker will be fine, people forget that brooks' butt was burning on the hot seat before things got better. unless their head coach is urban meyer, nick saban, les miles, or stoops, UK won't be back to winning respectably for a few years. and i guarantee you UK is not stealing a head coach from Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, or Ohio State. so why waste the time?

Your point????:lame:

My point is WVU lost to UL last season just like UK did Sunday only UK lost on the road to a top 25 ranked UL team. BTW UK leads the all time series in football and in Basketball vs WVU. UK lost @ LSU last year by 28 points WVU lost at home to LSU by 26. UK played double the number of ranked teams last season. The Big 12 is not even close to the the SEC in football and we will see how deep WVU is this year! It burns me that some fans on here want UK to leave the SEC so they can play WEAK teams and pretend to be a Football Power Like WVU does! MY point to you is 8 to 0 in other words UK has 8 NCAA titles in Basketball and Zero in Football and what about WVU?? 0+0=0 can you count that high Jeffro? :biglmao:

Defensive line play has to improve or it will be a very long season once the conference schedule begins. Offense performed decently well, Smith going 35/50 and not turning the ball over is a good sign. The offensive line is kind of young but overall look like they will be fine, but the running backs have to do a much better job of not putting the football on the ground. On defense however, good lord. I can't name 1 player on the defensive side of the ball that played well, Wyndham still starting shocks me, he just gets mauled every, single, play.
#39
Well I called this one. Max smith did look good on offense, but he has to have a clock in his head on how long he can wait in the pocket. O-Line did look good but struggled a bit at times. Dont even want to talk about defense... and honestly why is WVU and them going to the national title being brought up? Lmao thats saying H*** is going to freeze over soon. Not going to happen.

Still do. Im gonna laugh my ass off when we fire joker and hire petrino, and the same stuff happens. This is kentucky football IDK what part of that you guys cannot understand when mumme was here we never did better than the outback bowl one year and he had to cheat to be that good, Bill Curry was a coach at Petrino's level in his day and did jack-shit. Rich Brooks started oregon into mattering in football and couldn't get it done. What exactly makes you guys think anyone could do any better? Kentucky's facilities suck compared to the rest of this conference, the high school football sucks compared to the rest of this conference, The weather even sucks. No coach is going to convince a player to leave Alabama or florida to come to a school where football is in second place to basketball. Look at Spurrier at south carolina, they have a ton of advantages on us including better high school football and better football facilities. Yet they still have yet to compete on the true SEC level with friggen Steve Spurrier. A coach cannot make the program the school has to support it. Strong is well supported at louisville, no Football coach at Kentucky ever will be. That is the difference.

Ill put it this way. Until basketball is dead we will suck at football. Trust me im not some jackass who loves phillips iv just seen this for too long, and have seen alot of coach's suck. Quite frankly Ill take this level of suck compared to some of the levels of suck in the past. I would kill to see kentucky do great in football I actually had a brother play there and love the program as much if not more than anyone on here, but quite frankly I have seen to much of this shit to blame Joker. I know better and have seen way to much.

I do have to agree with the bold. But it all has to start with the administration and if the administration isn't gonna put forth the effort into building the facility's then they need to go. If they say they don't have the money that's total B.S. because their building a brand new softball facility right now and If I'm not mistaken their suppose to be building a brand new baseball facility as well, so why not go ahead and build a new football facility?

Because they don't care about football man. It aint jokers fault this is why Brooks left he got fed up with not being supported and it is why no good coach will come here and actually stay. There is no support. I have reasoning behind my argument, all the haters have is some fantasy world where uk cares about football. it isnt that way and never will be. Commonwealth Stadium packed to the gills is still smaller than any decent SEC stadium, the weightlifting facility is ok but sucks compared to what the rest have. Then a football guy has to see the basketball mansion and realises the University doesn't care, that is what kills us in recruiting. Not Joker he is a excellent recruiter but no one can bring in the talent to compete with that schedule it won't happen. Maybe Petrino could who knows? But the history says he won't.

Then the administration needs to go and get someone in their that will actually put forth the effort into the football program as well as the other programs.

I have said this for 15 years and it has yet still to happen. I love the program so much I literally follow it all year and have seen some great games in that stadium I would love nothing more than to one day compete for the SEC title. Until something major happens and they get support it won't happen. No coach can fix this.

PaintsvilleTigerfan Wrote:But Joker has ended two of the worst streaks in college football you guys have to give him that

Joker has done a decent job in his first 2 years at UK. He was a few fumbles away from having a 8 win season his first year. The fumbles in the redzone vs Ole Miss and UT turned both of those games around. It took a last second field goal for National title winner Auburn to beat that team. Last season a late fumble cost UK a chance to tie or win the UL game, that fumble ended up costing them a bowl game. The 2 fumbles Sunday really hurt and were sad to watch. I thought the on-side Kick was a great call but the fake punt was just stupid. It reminded me of the fake punt in the bowl game vs PiTT a few years ago. I use to play some pool with a old pro named "CornBread Red" , and RED called stupid shots in pressure situations "Give UP" shots. The call Joker made on the fake punt was a "Give UP" call!. I have tired to support Joker but he doesn't have too many more fumbles and "GIVE UP" Calls left.

Dude, what is wrong with you? Coming on here trying to make UK fans look dumb, while not even putting together a readable post, probably isn't a smart thing to do nor will it work.

If you seriously think you can win a National Championship with no defense against the best teams in the country, you are setting yourself up for heartbreak.

Modesty, my friend. It will get you far in life, and maybe even a beautiful woman if you aren't in West Virginia.

Simple guessing.

If UK starts 1-5 or 0-6 that means UK has lost to Kent State and Western KY. I dont know of any coach that would keep there job after losing to both of them.

It may be to late to get the Ky kids. That is what you need on this UK team. Guys that have a passion and desire to represent the state. Kentucky teams that were good always had Ky boys on them.
#55
I may change my mind later in the season, but the offense did not look that bad. If not for the 2 fumbles in the red zone this could have easily been a 32-28 game. It could have been a UK win if they score td's on these 2 drives & the momentum changed.

That's how UK Football Fans roll (what if).

On the other hand the defense looked horrible.

Well thats all from me for now. Go CATS!!!

blueboi Wrote:Does anyone think Steve Browns 4-3 defense of the past, is better than Rick Minter's 3-4 of the present? Or is it the athletes?

From what I saw Sunday I don't think UK has the inside linebackers for either a 4-3 or 3-4. I personally don't like the 3-4 for a team like UK. The 3-4 is great if you have the Athletes like a Bama or LSU have but teams scrapping by like UK are wasting there time running the 3-4. Tom Landry showed the world how to stop the run with his 4-3 flex, he invented the 4-3 to stop Jim Brown. The idea behind the flex is to take blocking angles away from the offense. Plus the flex tackle can be a smaller, moble guy (Randy White) It really admazes me how some of these guys that are head coachs at BCS schools like UK got there job. Most really have no common sense! YEP, lets run a defense that takes future Pro studs even though the school you are coaching for has had one of these guys (Art Still) in the last 35 years! Yep mays as well fire Bobby Bowdens O-line coach while I am at it! I think Joker learned the old trick of plugging in a washed out QB at linebacker from Hal Mumme,,:hilarious: like thats going to work in the SEC lol.

That would be me,haha. Honestly I watched the UL spring game and came away feeling like they had a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball and that is why I predicted them to score a bunch of points on UK. I have had my share of crow before and it does not taste like chicken, lol.

Pretty much nailed it. The offense was actually pretty good. Worst defensive performance since Mumme was here.
