Corbin plays a fairly tough schedule, especially throwing in the game with Danville. But I think they are good enough they could schedule a little bit tougher and make them even better...IMO. I know I get tired of losing to them year in and year out, lol. But that's their job to do, and our job to try and fix. Corbin was a dangerous team last year, and should have beat Louisville Central. That team would have played almost even with Belfry, but a miracle play saved Central, and a wild penalty with no time on the clock to give Central one more chance. But Corbin was still solid this year. Belfry just keeps dominating. They might give the 5A champ a rough way to go.. I think the only team in Kentucky that flatout would dominate them would be Male. Just too much speed. But that area over there is unreal. Wayne County is VERY VERY good, and Johnson Central beat them solidly. I still say Johnson Central didn't play well and had some key guys out in their matchup with Belfry, but regardless of that, Belfry shut them out. Belfry, should they go on and dominate the championship, surely must be the best team all the way up to the top 3 or 4 in 5A. They are crazy good.

I knew Horton and Bentley were big time, but I was most impressed by the play of Belfrys linebackers. Great team speed and got a lot of bodies to the ball. I didn't feel like Belfry Oline dominated the game, even though they were impressive. It's just hard to key on one person in that option attack when they're all a threat to take it to the endzone. Congrats you were very impressive.

I just know what Belfry has got. And Haddix I'm sure makes a difference, for sure. But I've saw Corbin play every year, middle school and high-school for the past 6 or 7 years (every year at high-school, and missed that 1 middle school class), along with Belfry and most other top teams. It's basically all I do on Fridays and Saturdays (middle school games). I have no doubt Corbin will be a better team than they are right now. Belfry brings in ANOTHER 8th grade championship freshman team into their ranks next year. One of their more solid all around teams. I mean it's almost ridiculous! And we still have Catholic and however long Boyle can hold their enrollment down to stay in 3A. I could see Corbin making it closer next year, if the matchup should materialize. That freshman class will start being a factor. I know their junior class was a very good team in 8th grade as well. Sophomores might be the year of talent that I don't know a lot about.inglepar

Belfry's first playoff win ever game in 1966 over Corbin. 19-16 was the final.
Last night, according to my records, was Belfry's 87th playoff victory. I'd say we've come a long way over the past 50 seasons.

Last night broke the record for Belfry's longest playoff win streak. The Pirates won 13 straight from the first round in 2003 to the state-semi final game in 05. Last night made 14 consecutive playoff victories.

Belfry has some big time studs. Where do they find talent like hiding in those hills?

This was the rebuilding year at Corbin. Last years senior class had so many kids that could play they got all the snaps. Corbin will be much better next year. Some of their linemen have got to grow up but all their skill people are back. Belfry is Belfry. They have a hidden factory over there that just keeps churning out great football players.

I remember my Grand Father and Great Uncles saying when I was a kid growing up, that back during World War II, the Service wanted mountain boys in their ranks because they were the BEST of the BEST. Most could out do any of the 'City Boys', in shooting, stamina, toughness etc. must still hold true to some extent! May have something to do with that thin mountain air they are breathing!

A lot of people in Pike County, and probably more proportionately in the Belfry area are losing their jobs. It is sad.
Thank god for those boys wearing red and white. They do a lot more than is fair for their community.
Go Belfry. Win state!

We scored on all possessions. We never punted. We ran at will. If that is your definition for Impressive. What is your Definition for dominant?

Male would beat Belfry by 5TD's +
We can debate further after this weekend. If Belfry loses no sense in even bringing it up though.

Belfry is very likely the best team in 3A. Male would put a running clock on them. No disrespect to Belfry meant. Just a different level.

No, not even close. All Belfry fans and team care about is being the best at is 3A. There are several teams that are head and shoulders above Belfry.

Your wrong, I watched them last week and I don't believe there is anyone that can stop them...
Johnson Central is second best in mountains and the dog choke them... 41-0
7 turnovers and still beat Lawerence Co.

As a Belfry fan that is a fine compliment, but best in intire state they are not. Male would embarrass us. I do think Belfry when playing their game could play ball with any of them but win any they wouldn't against teams like Male. Nice compliment though. Thanks.

Belfry would go toe to toe with anyone in 1A thru 5A.
Entering this weekend I would put Belfry and Pulaski on similar footing and Bowling Green slightly ahead of both with South Warren right alongside all of them.
6A is a different story. The only two teams I think that are completely out of Belfry's league are Male and Trinity, but there are a good 5 teams or so that Belfry would be a decided underdog against.
Once again though, none of this matters to even discuss if Belfry doesn't win Sunday

It's that "Cupcake" schedule that Belfry plays. Thats all we heard all season. 4 of our cupcakes are playing for state championships. Let that sink in. Combined score Belfry 137 other 4 teams 36.

I said they were impressive. That's a compliment why must you question it? In my opinion Belfry was bigger, stronger, faster at almost every position. However, Corbin Dline was one of the few places they could match up.

Corbin DLine did not matchup and did not play very well at all against Belfry! As far as Size they may of matched up. But the play didn't.

Really hate this for SOME Corbin folk. Corbin had a nice team with some talent. Belfry was just too much to handle

How can you say they came close of matching up if they never stopped us, not even one time. We never faced 4th down all night. That by definition in football is dominated. Even the freshman team moved the ball on them some.

Belfry offense did faced a 4th down and inches in the 3rd Qtr around the 50yd line. And everybody from Corbin knew Coach Haywood would go for it. Just setting the record straight on the 4th down or I thought it was 4th down.
