What's keeping Whitley County from being great? Let's hear your honest opinion Smile

Looking at the Colones schedule, they will finish regular season at 8-2 and if stays healthy could play in Refional finals

Lamont if you don't like folks disagreeing with your opinion, you're gonna have a difficult time here. Nobody ever agrees with everybody; follow pjdoug if you don't believe me.
Besides, Hound don't wear pink bloomers. They're lavender!!!

Like I said earlier, it's difficult to judge any team after one game. Whitley didn't appear to have the passing game to fall back on once their running game had been neutralized. BUT, a great part of that was field conditions. They were basically running in ankle deep water.
I still think Whitley has a good chance at a winning season.

Hahahahahah. Bud I think you’re the one a tad triggered here. But sorry for my assumption, I guess when most people say the best they’ve ever seen their sample size is more than 3???? I’ll let the last part of your post slide since you’re new. Welcome to the board.

Ps. My bloomers are red and black. The front, which leads is red for my Hounds. The back part, which follows and stinks is black for Doug’s colonels haha

Whitley does have a chance to be successful, but they’re gonna have to open that play book! It reminded me of the Willard Farris offense. Even a 7 yr old knew what they were gonna do.

They’ve got some size and the right amount of skill kids to be a dangerous team. But the man calling plays has to work that to their advantage, not make it the other teams advantage. Unless you’re 2016 belfry, running it 99% of the time isn’t going to work. But they’ll recover and maybe surprise a team or two overlooking them. Good luck, God knows Doug can’t handle a sub .500 record

The one thing Whitley has going for them is everyone on their schedule from hear on out is pretty weak. No other team on that schedule half as good as corbin.

And their district is awful. I wouldn't be surprised if Whitley wins district even running this offense.

I dunno. Good preparation can overcome talent a lot of times. But I don’t see Whitley running that type of offense the rest of the year

I've handled it too many times before. I don't call the plays so nothing I can do about it. I wish there was a way to break the clique up. It's sickening to see former unsuccessful wannabe coaches back on the sideline and downright embarrassing that and 5A school can't and the least compete with a 3A or even some 1A schools.

I know. Corbin was a victim of it for years. Sometimes you just have to pressure the administration for a new clean start

Not sure what game some of you watched, or if you watched. The field was a little messy but not sloppy, water might have been ankle deep an hour before but the field wasn’t near as bad as last year during the grid...
Also Estep played with poise and actually read the defense on the RPO, last years QB seemed to mostly call his own number in the rpo. Estep did not take chances with passes putting them where only his receiver could catch them. 18 and the freshman #2 looked great in limited touches as well.

It’s over Cherokee. Maybe we’ll get some grandkids someday to watch play elem, middle and HS ball. ⚾️

I meant no slight to Sizemore. One of the best QBs I’ve seen around here in a while. I should have stated that earlier. I enjoyed watching him play.
I heard people talking saying they were worried about our QB this year...I didn’t think it would be a problem. What Estep lacks in the ability to run you over he makes up for in speed and agility. Estep is like Sizemore in the ability to throw the ball to where only their receivers can can catch it. Again, I meant no offense to Sizemore.

I'm sorry, but I have never been a fan of Chappell. I'm sure he is a great guy, but his coaching is questionable wherever he has been? At one time, he was considered a bright, young, offensive mind, but he has never reached that potential in my mind. There are some athletic kids on Whitley's team and it baffles me that they don't get them the ball enough?

Maybe someday they'll get a Chuck Smith type.
