#31
Monning is a great reciever made some unbelieveable catches on 3rd an long 4th an long.

Wilks is wicked fast! Ashland bottled him up in second half!

My friend from Ironton told me this about his team and he has always been straight up on his thoughts about his team and he is usually right on when he says something.

Now what he said was the Tigers will win more than they lose but they are nothing special this year.

Go back an look at all the posts leading up to this game, that's all I saw everytime I read a post on here "go to the Ohio site an read about how good this ironton team is I saw a couple say they were best in 15 years, look what they did to wheelersburg!". That's all we heard tigers to much for tomcats can't handle that big line, size will be the difference, wilks is to fast, sounds like to me your friend is in the minority with that opinion.. Why don't you reserve that opinion til you see them in person? And I mean Ashland and Ironton.

Badcat will be impossible to live with now.

Yeah FBall...you're going to have to trade in your Ironton gear for some Highlands gear so you can keep a leg up on BadCat. I think I'd skip the Johnson Central gear this year.

Congratulation on a great win

Albers had the flu this week, he was pretty sick tonight but played anyway, puked about
4 times during the game , never missed a
beat played like a WARRIOR! We lost connor
swift starting reciever an linebacker on the
second play of the game with a concussion
gave him some stiches in the locker room. A
sophmore played there the whole game.
Way to step up can't think of his name?

Nice win for the cats. However, I think its to early to be saying anyone is the best player even in the county unless you've seen every player in the region in which you speak.
#37
I didnt expect the margin of victory to be this big, but great win regardless:Thumbs:
#38
good work ashland whole team played well albers is a beast and hunter ran the offense very well. good job to the coaches as well I was worried that the would keep the offense to tight but they kept it open all game. thank goodness for swichting to the spread offense this year the offensive package from the past couldn't accomplished this. with the talent from the soph. class down to the 7th grade class this should be the outcome for the next few years.
#39
Good win for the Tomcats. I did not see this coming.
#40
Impressive win for the Tomcats
#41
Ashland is the real deal this year, congrats on the win.
#42
I under estimated the Cats, said they would win 20-14, but then again were just Ashland. Tomcats won this game because they were the best team on the field hands down. Hope the boys enjoy this one for the weekend, and get ready for Waverly next Friday.
#43
Who would have guessed before the season that Albers, Varney, and Burchett would emerge as EKY's premier performers (vs. Fugate) ?!?

I'll bet Ironton doesn't take a win in this series for granted now - noticed on an OH site that seemed to be happening among Tiger fans the last few yrs.

Great win, Tomcats...!!
#44
congrats Ashland,I for one thought Ironton would come out on top in this match up. I was sooo wrong. I'll have a bite of that crow if you would like to share with a newbie.
#45
Congratulations Tomcats! You were very impressive tonight. :champ:
#46
Great job by the young TomCats! can't wait to watch them! You can do it, all the way to state!

BoondockSaint Wrote:I'm not going to sugarcoat it at all....Ironton must be at an all-time low.

As some others have already stated, many Ironton fans were claiming this as their best team in 5-10 years. Ironton came into this game ranked #2 in the state of Ohio in their class. A #2 ranking in any state, especially Ohio shows that your team is not anywhere near an "all-time low."

Ashland played a quality opponent and came out ahead when the final horn sounded. Ashland pitched a 2nd half shutout against the Tigers. Congrats to Coach Love on a great defensive scheme that was able to contain some of the Tigers offense as they settled down.

I have openly been critical of Coach Hart's playcalling in the past. Tonight he showed that when his players are executing the plays correctly the playcalling looks fantastic.

Josh Alber carried a city, and maybe even eastern Kentucky, on his back. An absolutely stellar and gutsy performance from this young man.

Lastly, I want to conclude about the great sportsmanship shown by both teams during and after the game. This has always been the way of Ironton coach Bob Lutz. I was very proud to see the Ashland players stave off the wave of students rushing the field to greet the Tigers at midfield after a great battle.

Congrats to both teams. Both teams will continue to win many games this season. Good luck to both throughout the regular season and playoffs.

O.k. I'm back. This win doesn't make me think Ashland is any better it just lowers my opinion of the Tiggers. Sounds like the Tigers beat thierselves with turnovers. Don't forget that Putnam Stadium is home of where the referee's walk right out of the house and onto the field.
#52
I'm still here too. The kittens walked the walk. I didn't think they would beat Ironton but they did. Badcat you are on top this year so enjoy it. Don't get to cocky though.

Glad to see somebody to argue with!

Ironton had 5 yards in penalty the whole game,Ashland had i think 51 so home field advantage was not much of an advantage.

As far as fumbles all the fumbles but one Ashland knocked them lose with some helmet spliting hits.

As far as you giving some props to my cats. I would not expect any less from a AM. They are the greatest team to every put on the pads an take the field in the whole universe! Hail King AMS!!!!:moon:

I'm glad that somebody from Assland is finally admitting that the Rams rule the entire high school football universe. Pretty good win for the Omcats but they will never be as good as the Rams. Where is Tigerbait??? How could you let this happen??!!!!!
#55
Are there any schools looking at Albers???

I didn't think Ashland would beat Ironton. They proved me wrong. Specifically, I had no idea Alber was this good. That's a good question someone else asked. Does he have the potential to play in college anywhere?

Ashland has a couple of tough games left, particularly at Johnson Central who will probably be trying to salvage their season against them. I think Ashland will win out in the regular season, though, and not lose until possibly the 3rd week of the playoffs at Highlands.

So all in all, congratulations BadCat! It should get exciting for you in November.
#58
Ashland is a very good football team with a capital T. They play together as one unit that is why they beat a very good Ironton team. I also love their Only hope they are some good receivers coming up.
#59
I have to say congrats to the TOMCATS for an outstanding and surprising win. I did think that ASHLAND could play with IRONTON but not beat them, so with that I will give the devil (in this case TOMCAT) his due. Now let's see if we see a let down this week after an emotional win like this.
